COMING IN MAY: HOW'D YOU GET RICH SEASON 2
Love the morning marathons. Not a bad schedule at all.
tvparadise 02-20-2010, 07:18 PM I like the morning marathons too. Don't necessarily like all the shows, so it makes it easier to just watch (especially record) the ones you do like in blocks instead of watching 30 min or 1-hr every single day. I do kind of wish Fridays would be All in the Family and I'm surprised one of them is not Bewitched with TV Land re-introducing that show. But I guess since they aren't doing the westerns on the weekends anymore, this gives them a way to do more Bonanza.
And an appearance by Good Times (first one in 2010!) Maybe the last?
And an appearance by Good Times (first one in 2010!) Maybe the last?
I just noticed this! Would not surprise me if it's the last. Good Times, Star Trek, Brady Bunch, and Little House are toast on TV Land when their contracts expire if you ask me. :(
I wish they would do a Star Trek marathon. That show just seems like it has never aired compared to the others. I can barely remember it airing regularly except when it first launched.
tvparadise 02-22-2010, 02:52 AM If I remember correctly Star Trek can only be shown between 8pm - 8am. Dramas (and nowadays most older shows) really don't work between 8pm - 6am and when TV Land started doing Paid Programming, there wasn't a lot they could do with Star Trek. Don't know why it couldn't stay on Sundays at 6am instead of Roseanne? Similar story for Little House except I think it does a little better and it's 6pm - 6am.
I noticed with the upcoming episodes of Leave it to Beaver, they will be going back to the beginning on Mondays in a few weeks (but airing episodes beyond 170 on Fridays at 9am). They also seem to do this lately. Episodes beyond 160 hardly ever get aired. Last summer they went back to the beginning after the hit the 150s.

I'm not aware of any other channel airing it. They should air it on Sat/Sun mornings instead of those EM: HE 2 hour episodes. I don't think they will be getting any more older shows that they can just air at night like these, because the concept doesn't work anymore (including M*A*S*H, which I bet will probably be just in the middle of the night entirely by the end of the year) since they are going in a newer direction in that time frame.
Why would they skip those Beaver episodes? Some of my favorites are in those later seasons. It was renewed last May and hasn't aired a lot, so they should have tons of plays so it can't be that.
Cliff Barnes 02-23-2010, 05:20 PM I wonder what classic casts will get reunited at the next TVLand Awards-I have to admit I think the show itself is usually pretty dumb, the only high point is seeing some of the folks together again.

Pavan 02-25-2010, 05:07 PM As mentioned, returning in May:
JOAN RIVERS RETURNS TO TV LAND AS NETWORK ORDERS SECOND SEASON OF HIT REALITY SERIES
“HOW’D YOU GET SO RICH?” PREMIERING WEDNESDAY, MAY 5
Series Explores The Aspirational Stories Of Everyday People Who
Went From Rags to Mega-Riches
New York, NY, February 25, 2010 -- TV Land announced today that it has picked up the popular reality series “How’d You Get So Rich?” starring the notoriously uncensored Joan Rivers for a second season, premiering on Wednesday, May 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. "How'd You Get So Rich?," a TV Land PRIME original series, returns this spring and will once again take viewers on a journey to meet mega-rich millionaires who worked hard and struck gold. As she tours the most lavish and extravagant homes, she introduces viewers to folks who made a lot of money in out of the ordinary, fascinating ways and asks all the questions no one else would – in the way only Joan can. “How’d You Get So Rich?” is a six-episode series from Mark Burnett Productions and Zoo Productions, Inc. Mark Burnett, Barry Poznick and John Stevens serve as executive producers.
“It’s so exciting for us to work with our friend, the incomparable Joan Rivers and bring ‘How’d You Get So Rich?’ back to TV Land,” states Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “Viewers were very inspired last season by the stories of these millionaires who went from rags to riches – some of whom were mowing lawns and are now collecting Bentleys! It is truly the American Dream, proving anyone can do it, and there is no one other than Joan who can do a better job of finding out how in the world these people got that rich!”
"I'm thrilled to be back on “How'd You Get So Rich?,” states Joan Rivers. “It's so much better than hosting ‘How’d You Get So Poor?’...and when I say ‘Rich,’ I mean RICH. People that Oprah will borrow money from. People that will use Dr. Ruth as a paperweight and people that when their computer breaks Bill Gates comes by to fix it."
Among the fascinating stories featured in the first season of "How'd You Get So Rich?" was Joan's visit to the home of the inventor of the BillyBob Teeth -- who grew up dirt poor and now owns the largest house in Illinois, a trip to the Versace mansion now owned by a telecommunications tycoon who once went door to door selling cordless phones and a visit to the 11,000 square foot Tampa Bay home owned by the father of the infomercial who made “Ginsu” a household name.
Pavan 03-01-2010, 07:08 PM Hot in Cleveland has been picked-up and will premiee in June:
Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, and Jane Leeves get “Hot In Cleveland” on TV Land this June
Betty White Will Be Recurring
Monday, March 1, 2010 -- TV Land announced today that it has greenlit 10 episodes of the original comedy sitcom “Hot in Cleveland,” starring a sensational veteran cast of Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves with Betty White in the pilot episode. “Hot in Cleveland” is written by Emmy Award-winning Suzanne Martin (“Frasier,” “Ellen”) and is produced by Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace”) and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions. “Hot in Cleveland” is a TV Land PRIME original production and is the network’s first venture into scripted comedy series. The series is scheduled to air June 2010.
“We are thrilled that ‘Hot in Cleveland’ is TV Land’s first original sitcom,” states Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “The talented cast has amazing chemistry and delivers the clever script from a renowned sitcom writer with hilarity and sincerity. This show has enormous potential and we are so excited to be a part of it.”
“Hot in Cleveland” revolves around three fabulous, LA women of a certain age and best friends (Bertinelli, Leeves and Malick). Their lives are changed forever when their plane – headed for Paris – unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and they soon rediscover themselves in this new “promised land.” Loving their new home, the women find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they have rented, played by Betty White.

Wow, this show is hysterical. Betty White was simply amazing in the short 2 minute clip I saw. The better make her a regular ASAP, as she could carry the entire show by herself and it would still be fantastic. I think TV Land may actually have something here.

tvparadise 03-10-2010, 07:10 PM Dang, they dropped the Good Times block on 4/10.
I hate they are dropping Beaver from Fridays as those are the later episodes as they abruptly went back to the beginning with the episodes in the Monday block.
These changes are sort of confusing...
1.) Why bother moving Boston Legal to 5am (it likely won't do better than the extra episodes of Three's Company and M*A*S*H occupying the 3am - 6am hours).
2.) So it appears Home Improvement is not doing great, so it gets moved to 1am. It would make more sense to me to move it to 11pm and do Roseanne 12am - 2am. HI seems like a better lead-out from Raymond. Also, why replace it in the 8pm hour with The Cosby Show. Seems like continuing with Andy Griffith in this hour would be a better move.

I agree. What makes them think Cosby is going to suddenly do well? They always wind up pulling it. I think they are trying to get TAGS out of prime-time, but every time they do, it comes back. I've noticed they've been repeating them more and more, so it could be plays, but I doubt it.
Home Improvement not working - hm. Looks like it. So far, none of the Prime shows have worked. Seems like HSR, TAGS, and the movies are keeping primetime afloat.
I wish they would STOP that with Beaver. There is no logical reason to not air the later seasons.
benjamoon 03-10-2010, 11:13 PM I'm hoping this means that "Bewitched" is doing well in its lower-profile slot! I have all of it on DVD but it's still fun to catch it on regular TV from time to time now!
Looks like "Boston Legal" was a dud as have been so many of their more recent shows (3rd Rock, Scrubs, Just Shoot Me). I think nostalgic 80s shows can fit but I don't think people are turning to TV Land for shows they expect to see on TBS. That being said, I do think "Raymond" is high profile enough to do well for TV Land

stevea 03-11-2010, 01:31 PM ...I'm surprised one of them is not Bewitched...
They probably don't have Bewitched contracted for M-F daytime. I think that belongs to WGN-A.
snelson 03-11-2010, 06:28 PM looks like bewitched is scoring on tvland. it's good for some people who don't have the dvds.
Bewitched scores, Boston Legal blows. Surprise, surprise.
I think ELR will do well, though.

Home Improvement-Raymond-Roseanne-Cosby from 8pm-3am will be a great flow. I think they're finally on to something.
tvparadise 03-29-2010, 12:31 AM Much better! Cosby Show would have not worked at 8pm just as it did not before. Good to see Cosby Show/Three's Company/M*A*S*H block earlier.
I still think Andy Griffith will eventually come back at 8pm and at that point I hope they move Home Improvement to 11pm as a lead-out of Raymond and lead-in to Roseanne. And at that point Boston Legal will probably be removed from 5am as another hour of Paid Programming would bring in more $$$ than it and 1am - 6am will return to how it is now.
bliggenstrauff 03-29-2010, 03:16 PM That's cool. Too bad about Cosby though although it's on WGN at better times. Anyway, hopefully Friffith'll never come back to primetime, I'm so sick of that show. I should watch Home Improvement more, keep watching other channels

As much as I love Andy Griffith, my opinion on that has changed. I wouldn't mind seeing it at 7PM, but I like the flow they're going to have from 8-12. Andy Griffith would be a better lead-in for Home Improvement airing from 7-8 (move AITF/SAS to 4-6 and Bewitched 6-7). I'm thinking maybe Nanny will get 11PM-12AM. HI-Raymond-Nanny-Roseanne would flow very well.
BTW, I don't know if it was ever posted, but 11pm-12am has been Roseanne lately, not FLSC encores.

Monday, March 29, 2010, Los Angeles, CA -- TV Land announced today that Golden Globe® Award-winner and Emmy®-nominated actor and comedian, Tim Allen has been tapped to host the “8th Annual TV Land Awards” that are scheduled to tape on Saturday, April 17 on the historic Stage 15 on the Sony Lot in Culver City. The show premieres on Sunday, April 25 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Allen was previously honored last year, when his award-winning show, “Home Improvement” was given the Fan Favorite Award.
“Tim Allen is a versatile and hilarious performer who fits perfectly into the plans for this year’s TV Land Awards,” stated Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “We are thrilled to have him as our host this year.”
Tim Allen will next be heard reprising his role as Buzz Lightyear in the Disney/Pixar animated film "Toy Story 3" scheduled for release on June 18, 2010. Allen was last seen on screen in his feature film directorial debut, the independent comedy "Crazy on the Outside" in which he starred opposite Ray Liotta and Sigourney Weaver. The film is scheduled to be released on DVD in April 2010. Allen honed his talents as a stand-up comic throughout the eighties, providing the perfect lead-in to his very successful television series “Home Improvement” which ran for eight seasons on ABC. He made his film debut in 1994 in Disney's “The Santa Clause.”
In addition to starring in that film's two highly profitable sequels, Allen has starred in box office hits such as "Wild Hogs," "Galaxy Quest," "Toy Story” 1 & 2 and "The Shaggy Dog" as well as David Mamet's drama "Redbelt," the dark comedy "Who is Cletis Tout" and Barry Sonnenfeld's "Big Trouble," to name a few. Allen is also an author having penned two books, the New York Times Bestseller Don’t Stand Too Close to a Naked Man and its bestselling follow up, I’m Not Really Here.
Honorees previously announced include the entire cast of “Everybody Loves Raymond” who will reunite for this year’s TV Land Awards for the first time since the death of fellow cast member Peter Boyle to receive the Impact Award. This year’s Future Classic Award will be bestowed upon Fox’s runaway hit, “Glee.” Previous Future Classic recipients include “Desperate Housewives” and “Arrested Development.” Mel Brooks (“Blazing Saddles”) and Carl Reiner (“The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “Ocean’s Eleven”) -- the Renaissance Men of Comedy who started out on “Your Show of Shows” -- will each receive the Legend Award. This marks the first time that this award will be given to two recipients. Stars of the 1970s TV phenomenon “Charlie’s Angels” will be on hand to receive the Pop Culture Award and to pay tribute to their cast member Farrah Fawcett, who passed away from cancer in June 2009.
Now in its eighth year, the “TV Land Awards” celebrates classic and contemporary luminaries of television, music and movies. The ninety-minute telecast will feature exhilarating musical performances and will reunite some of the most iconic celebrity TV casts.

Honorees previously announced for the “8th Annual TV Land Awards” include the entire cast of “Everybody Loves Raymond” who will receive the Impact Award, “Glee” which will receive this year’s Future Classic Award and Mel Brooks (“Blazing Saddles”) and Carl Reiner (“The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “Ocean’s Eleven”) will each receive the Legend Award. Stars of the 1970s TV phenomenon “Charlie’s Angels” will be on hand to receive the Pop Culture Award and to pay tribute to their cast member Farrah Fawcett, who passed away in June 2009. Also scheduled to appear are Academy® Award-winner Tom Hanks and Emmy® Award-nominee Peter Scolari who will reunite to accept the Anniversary Award for the 30th anniversary of the comedy, “Bosom Buddies,” along with fellow cast members Donna Dixon, Thelma Hopkins and Holland Taylor, marking the first time that the cast has been together publically since the show went off the air.
Now in its eighth year, the “TV Land Awards” pays tribute to classic and contemporary luminaries of television, music and movies. The ninety-minute telecast will feature exhilarating musical performances and will reunite some of the most iconic celebrity TV casts.
Michael Levitt ("Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,” "Billboard Music Awards,” "Scream Awards") is executive producer; Emmy® Award-winning Jeff Margolis is director (“Academy Awards,” “American Music Awards,” “Screen Actors Guild Awards”); Greg Sills serves as supervising producer (“VH1 Rock Honors,” “The Teen Choice Awards,” “Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards”); and TV Land’s Larry W. Jones and Sal Maniaci are executive producers.
bliggenstrauff 04-09-2010, 01:32 PM Since the Tvland May board is either locked or closed, I'll reply to the news here. Hot In Cleveland sounds interesting and it'll be cool to see The Nanny on TV Land.

Weekdays
9:00am-1:00pm (unless noted)
Mondays: Good Times (replaces Leave it to Beaver)
Tuesdays: 3rd Rock from the Sun (replaces Beverly Hillbillies)
Wednesdays: Sanford and Son remains
Thursdays: The Brady Bunch (replaces Hogan's Heroes)
Fridays: 9-11am Gunsmoke, 11am-5pm Bonanza remain
What's back: Good, Times, The Brady Bunch and 3rd Rock from the Sun
What's gone: Beverly Hillbillies, Leave it to Beaver and Hogan's Heroes
May schedule will be posted next week. Stay tuned to that thread for further changes.
3rd Rock is back AGAIN? It must not do that badly. They've removed it and brought it back before.
Naturally my two favorite shows are pulled. Funny that Good Times and Brady Bunch are coming back - I wonder if this is a "last hurrah" for them?
tvparadise 04-11-2010, 11:32 PM Good to see Good Times and The Brady Bunch return...hopefully it won't be for the last time.
3rd Rock seems really out of place though. Just doesn't fit when all the other shows that air during that 9am - 1pm block are from 1957 - 1979.
I don't see why they just can't keep the westerns and Sanford and Son in there afternoon/evening slots and do this-
Mon- Leave it to Beaver
Tue- The Beverly Hillbillies
Wed- Hogan's Heroes
Thu-The Brady Bunch
Fri-Good Times
benjamoon 04-12-2010, 10:34 AM I would like to see "Beaver" stay but I don't mind "Hogan's" being gone. Great to see "The Brady Bunch" back!
And I'm also glad to see that they are STILL not messing with "Bewitched" - it must be doing somewhat decently for them
I know I've asked before, but I forgot....when do The Brady Bunch and Good Times expire? I think Little House does in August. I really don't feel good about those being renewed, especially since there's another older show coming later this year. LHOTP I am indifferent to since it's on Hallmark...with the time restrictions it would be stupid to renew. I just hope they air the two comedies until they expire.
I'm glad Bewitched is doing well too! I have to admit I was a little nervous about it at 5pm, but it seems to be doing fine. :D
tvparadise 04-12-2010, 12:18 PM The information that I have regarding expiration dates from the TV Land boards a while back is:
5/31/10- The Brady Bunch
6/30/10- Good Times
8/31/10- Little House on the Prairie
9/10- 3rd Rock from the Sun
10/31/10- Star Trek
However, there was conflicting information on The Cosby Show. In one place it said June 2010, and the other said September 2010.
The expirations are about to start pouring in! I'd really like to see Brady Bunch and Good Times renewed (although I prefer Good Times on TV One where they show uncut episodes of it). I'm not really seeing any of these getting renewed.
I don't think they will renew what they don't need/what doesn't do well (which are all of the shows you mentioned). The marathons in the mornings can do fine without The Brady Bunch and Good Times. LHOTP is not prime-time material and isn't worth airing at 6pm or 6am. Star Trek was a huge failure and Cosby isn't really needed with the new primetime shows coming. Same for 3rd Rock. I think either Hogan's Heroes and/or Hillbillies expire late this year too but I'm not sure.
BTW: what is wrong with Andy Griffith? I know I keep saying this, but it seems like they show the same episodes and when they air it from 4-8pm on Sundays, they repeat the episodes right over again. They're always skipping them. Bewitched's marathons aren't done this way (I think they have skipped though).
tvparadise 04-13-2010, 01:21 AM Yeah, Hogan's Heroes is November 2010 and The Beverly Hillbillies is December 2010 (based on the same information from the TV Land boards a while back). But there is like a 1-year-extension-option with Hogan's Heroes. After that, no more shows are up for renewal until August 2011 (although Leave it to Beaver and Bewitched were never listed).
Here's the rest of them:
Scrubs- 8/1/11
Gunsmoke- 8/31/11
All in the Family- 9/30/11
Sanford and Son- 12/31/11
The Andy Griffith Show- 12/31/11
Bonanza- 8/31/12
Roseanne-9/20/12
Home Improvement- 8/30/13
Three's Company- 8/31/13
M*A*S*H- 8/31/13
Extreme Makeover- 9/27/13
bliggenstrauff 04-13-2010, 12:53 PM That's cool about 3rd Rock, I really like the show, but too bad about BH (although it's on WGN) and Hoagies Heroes.

Extreme Makeover- 9/27/13 Wow, that's a lot of shows expiring this year. What's scary is they are mostly the classic ones. With Beverly Hillbillies and Hogan's Heroes expiring, I think they'll definitely let some of them go (still banking on The Brady Bunch and Good Times) because they mostly only use them in the morning and can fill the afternoon with westerns. Only thing is, we don't know which classics do well and which don't (besides the ones in the evening). They could easily let all of the classics expire and do this in the AM if they kept the marathons:
Monday - Bewitched
Tuesday - Leave it to Beaver
Wednesday - new classic show
Thursday - All In The Family
Friday - Sanford and Son

I'm going to predict they'll let them all expire except 1. I'm going to put my money of "The Beverly Hillbillies". I don't know if it does that well, but for some reason I have a feeling it will be extended. Of course like you say- none of them are really needed. The only thing I'd say in regards to your schedule is---I doubt they will remove the "westerns day" if they continue with these morning blocks. I think "All in the Family" is sort of the opposite of "The Brady Bunch" in that it does not do well in blocks/marathons..but can work for an episode or 2 a day. BB on the other hand doesn't seem to work well with daily episodes, but blocks/marathons of it seem to maybe work ok.

That '70s Show
September 4, 2017
Friends
As for the fate of The Brady Bunch...I just found out and I guess you will all see when June is revealed.
I wish That '70s Show would hurry up. It was slated for August of last year I think.
I don't think anything will be renewed this year except for, like b&tcfan said, The Beverly Hillbillies. I think the Bradys are goners.
Classicshowsgurl15 04-15-2010, 02:17 AM So that says how long there contract is for being on TVLand?
Also, there isn't going to be a Legacy of Laughter Award at the TVLand Awards this year? I think someone else besides Julia Louise Dreyfuss should have received it though. She wasn't that deserving of it. She is funny, but she hasn't been in comedy as long as Lucy was and Carol Burnett, etc. It should go to a more classic comedienne/comedian.
I'm glad that they are honoring Everybody Loves Raymond, Bosom Buddies, Charlie's Angles and The Love Boat.
tvparadise 04-15-2010, 03:51 AM I wonder if "That 70's Show" will even still come to TV Land? To me it seems like it would be good to have it go to Nick@Nite first and have "Friends" go straight to TV Land (like ELR), with no (or a later) Nick@Nite run.
icecream 04-16-2010, 10:03 PM I would just as soon That 70s Show never see the light of day on TVLand. It's a lousy show that has been played to death on other channels.

To me it seems like it would be good to have it go to Nick@Nite first and have "Friends" go straight to TV Land (like ELR), with no (or a later) Nick@Nite run.I'll admit, at first I didn't like TV Land going in the newer direction, but I'm starting to get used to it. I would love to see That '70s Show on TV Land, I think it would be a nice fit (would work on NAN too) and would help attract more viewers to the network, something Nick doesn't need as badly. It fits the demos TV Land is wanting likely. I think it has a chance on both networks. Friends doesn't belong on a channel with shows like EHC and MITM. It fits better with Raymond, etc.
I only get 70s Show on one channel (ABC Family), not everybody gets Teen Nick.
SpenceOlchin 04-17-2010, 05:05 PM That 70's show also airs on FX, mostly in afternoons or late night. I'm not the biggest fan of the show, but I like Red and Kitty.

Speaking of honorees and tributes, have there been tributes to Bill Bixby and/or The Incredible Hulk on any previous TV Land Award shows? I'm just curious because I have developed a renewed interest in Mr. Bixby, a terrific actor, and TIH, a great show!. I'd love to see recognition for them.
BTW, if there's a better spot for this question, feel free to move it, Admins. I just thought it would be okay here since it's related to the TVL Awards. Thanks.
