But I noticed tonight, in the exterior shots of the building they supposedly live, it only has six floors. catlover79 02-19-2010, 01:19 AM I guess they thought the viewers wouldn't notice.  Marvo301 02-19-2010, 01:46 AM Maybe the first 3 floors are underground? OOliver 02-19-2010, 02:24 PM I want to know which building they used for the exterior shots? I always thought it was in the West 40s. Does anyone know for sure? Chocolate Moose 02-19-2010, 05:28 PM 9 doesn't have to mean ninth floor. If they lived at 9E, the E could refer to the fifth floor, as E is the fifth letter of the alphabet. LittleRickyII 02-19-2010, 08:24 PM 9 doesn't have to mean ninth floor. If they lived at 9E, the E could refer to the fifth floor, as E is the fifth letter of the alphabet. Well, I suppose anything is possible. But I've personally never been in a building where the first part of an apartment number didn't refer to the floor, or where the floor was identified by a letter instead of a number. LittleRickyII 02-19-2010, 08:26 PM Maybe the first 3 floors are underground?  Pity the person who, over the phone and sight unseen, rents a unit on the second or third floor, then arrives only to learn they have no windows! LittleRickyII 02-19-2010, 08:27 PM I guess they thought the viewers wouldn't notice.  Or they didn't expect the viewers to be able to use freeze frame. :) OOliver 02-21-2010, 09:35 PM 9 doesn't have to mean ninth floor. If they lived at 9E, the E could refer to the fifth floor, as E is the fifth letter of the alphabet. The only problem is: it's mentioned time and time again that she and Brenda live on different floors, and Brenda's apartment is 2E. What I always thought was odd was the fact that they were both in "E" but their apartments were so different in every way (size, windows, etc.). Usually, apartment buildings in Manhattan have the same floor plans on each floor - so all the "E" apartments (on every floor) are laid out the same. They should have given Brenda (or Rhoda) a differenet letter to make it more believable. catlover79 02-21-2010, 10:37 PM Or they didn't expect the viewers to be able to use freeze frame. :) Or zoom. catlover79 02-21-2010, 10:38 PM  Pity the person who, over the phone and sight unseen, rents a unit on the second or third floor, then arrives only to learn they have no windows! I'd be demanding my deposit back!!   LittleRickyII 02-21-2010, 11:30 PM The only problem is: it's mentioned time and time again that she and Brenda live on different floors, and Brenda's apartment is 2E. What I always thought was odd was the fact that they were both in "E" but their apartments were so different in every way (size, windows, etc.). I was wondering about that, too! Also, the angled windows and doors around Rhoda's terrace look nothing like that exterior shot, which shows a uniformly flat window (or door) facing the terrace. Actually, it's not clear to me there's even a terrace in that exterior shot. LittleRickyII 02-21-2010, 11:36 PM I'd be demanding my deposit back!!   At a minimum! catlover79 02-22-2010, 12:16 AM At a minimum! Right! catlover79 02-26-2010, 02:45 PM The title of this thread makes me think of The Jeffersons. Did Rhoda and Joe have a DELUXE apartment in the sky? ;) OOliver 03-03-2010, 03:30 PM I was wondering about that, too! You're 100% correct about that as well - I just noticed that in the ep where Rhoda and Joe go out to the terrace to leave Suzy and Arthur alone to talk. Their apartment looks more like 'The Jeffersons' - they had the terrace there. |
