With Robert DeNiro seemingly hellbent on rescuing his career, and Al Pacino still stuck in the black hole, it'll come as no surprise to hear Pacino's replacing DeNiro in the NuImage/Millennium cop thriller ''Son of No One''
DeNiro, who'll soon be reuniting with Martin Scorsese for a new gangster epic, was to lead director Dito Montiel's actioner, but for reasons unknown, skipped on the project.
The actor's "Heat" and "Righteous Kill" co-star Pacino was more than happy to step in for him - and why wouldn't he be!? The thing not only sounds significantly better than Pacino's last five flicks, but considering it's also attracted the talents of Channing Tatum, Terrence Howard, Katie Holmes and Ray Liotta - I'd be surprised if it isn't even half-watchable!
The script, written by Montiel ("Fighting"), centers on a young cop who is assigned to a precinct in the working class neighborhood where he grew up, with an old secret surfacing and threatening to destroy his life and family.
The Hollywood Reporter says "Son of No One" shoots in New York City next month.
