According to Prodeathpenalty.com, he was scheduled to be executed on August 2, 2005, but he was given a stay.

Yeah, he has got execution dates before, but thankfully he has not been executed. Walter in my view is an innocent man and there is strong evidence to support this conclusion. In my opinion the real killer of Barbara Jean Horn is a man named Raymond Sheehan. In 1987 he raped and murdered an 8 year old girl in the same neighborhood. However Sheehan while he was a longtime suspect was not charged in the case until 2003. He later pled guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.

Plus Pennsylvania's death penalty system is extremely dysfunctional. Since the DP was reinstated in Pennsylvania in 1977 not a single person has been executed in that state involuntarily. Three men have been executed there since 77 but all three were men who voluntarily ended their appeals. Ogrod was given an execution date in 05, it was just more of a formality, everyone knew it would not be carried out, but because that is when his state appeals ran out he was given a date. But he still has federal appeals ongoing as well as a state appeal ongoing for DNA testing.

If they have a body they should have DNA testing. You can't just kill someone without even running tests.
