Lassie is a television series that follows the adventures of a female collie named Lassie and her human and animal companions. It'sone of the longest running dramatic series on television, Lassie was first broadcast from September 12, 1954, to March 24, 1973. The show saw seventeen seasons on CBS before entering first-run syndication for its final two seasons. Filmed initially in black-and-white, the show transitioned to color during the 1960s.

The show's first ten seasons follow Lassie's adventures in a small farming community with two boys, Jeff Miller (1954-1957) and Timmy Martin (1957-1964). When her exploits on the farm end in the eleventh season, Lassie finds new adventures in the wilderness with Forest Rangers Corey Stuart, Bob Erickson, and Scott Turner. Following a year without human leads (1970), Lassie finally settles at a children's home for her final seasons.

These episode's were recorded from recent syndicated airings so for the first three seasons, the "Lassie" title card was replaced by the title card "Jeff's Collie" (the seasons when Lassie is owned by Jeff Miller).

Quality: 8.5+ (direct satellite captures)

Discs are shipped in individual sleeve envelopes ONLY. (no cases)

Lassie can best be appreciated by dividing its 19 year run into five distinct periods: the Miller Years, the Martin Years, the Ranger Years, the Lassie Alone Year, and the Holden Ranch Years.

The Miller Years (1954-1957). - season 1 to 3

The first three seasons of Lassie chronicled the lives and adventures of the Millers, a poor farm family living on the outskirts of the fictional Midwestern town of Calverton. Ellen Miller was a young widow raising an 11 year old son named Jeff with the help of her father-in-law George "Gramps" Miller. In the premiere episode of the series, Jeff received an adult collie named Lassie as a bequest from a neighbor.("The Inheritance" 01x01). Stories during the Miller Years related Jeff's adventures with Lassie on the farm, at school, and in Calverton. Some of the semi-regular characters during the Miller years included Jeff's buddy Sylvester "Porky" Brockway, Porky's father Matt Brockway, Jenny, the telephone operator, Miller family neighbor Jim Teal, and Clay Horton, a constable.

The Martin Years (1957-1964). - season 4 to 10

At the beginning of the fourth season (1957), a waif-like runaway named Timmy was found hiding in the Miller barn. The Millers took a liking to the boy. Ellen contacted a social worker as well as Timmy's elderly and ailing guardians to discuss Timmy's situation. It was agreed by all that Timmy would benefit from a temporary sojourn on the Miller farm and Timmy was welcomed into the Miller household for the summer("The Runaway" 04x01).As summer came to a close, "Gramps" died and Ellen decided to sell the farm to Paul and Ruth Martin. The childless Martins adored Timmy and adopted him. Jeff made a gift of Lassie to Timmy and she remained on the farm. The Millers moved to Capitol City ("Transition" 04x13). Late in the fourth season, Paul's uncle Petrie Martin arrived on the farm to help with the work ("The Ring" 04x20). It was thus that the popular and well loved "Timmy and Lassie" years began.

The Martin Years were the only time during the show's entire run that Lassie was a member of a traditional father-mother-child family and stories early in the Martin Years focused on Timmy's growing pains ("The Bike" 04x15) and his adventures with Lassie ("Bessie" 07x27). As the show moved into the early 1960s, environmental awareness, preservation, and conservation became a theme in many of the episodes ("Operation Woodland" 09x28).Semi-regular characters during the Martin years included Timmy's friends Scott Richards and Boomer Bates, neighbor girl Wilhelmina "Willy" Brewster, (played by producers' Jack and Bonita Granville Wrathers' daughter Linda), Jenny, the telephone operator, veterinarian Doc Weaver, Timmy's schoolteacher Amy Hazlit, hardware store owner and Fire Chief Ed Washburne, Sheriff Miller, and eccentric, nature loving farmer Cully Wilson.

209057

The Ranger Years (1964-1969). - season 11 to 16

When the eleventh season opened, Timmy was a teenager and Lassie's role as protectress of a boy strained credulity -- many felt Timmy was old enough to take care of himself and no longer needed a nursemaid. It was decided by the powers that be that the Martins would emigrate to Australia and Lassie would be forced to remain in The States as a result of Australia's strict quarantine regulations. In a painful three-part story, Timmy transferred ownership of Lassie to his elderly friend Cully Wilson. The Martins departed for Australia and Cully, after suffering a debilitating heart attack, transferred ownership of Lassie to Ranger Corey Stuart, a member of the U.S. Forest Service ("The Wayfarers" 11x01-03).

Over the next few years Lassie enjoyed a variety of outdoor adventures with her owner Ranger Stuart but early in the fifteenth season (1968), Stuart suffered severe burns fighting a forest fire. His injuries would take months to heal. Two of Corey's fellow rangers -- bachelors Bob Erickson and Scott Turner -- became Lassie's "godfathers" during Corey's lengthy hospitalization ("The Holocaust" 15x03-04). The wilderness adventure themes of the Corey Stuart episodes were continued through the two Scott and Bob years. Joining the stout hearted rangers as a semi-regular character was an Aleut youth named Neeka.

209058

The Lassie Alone Year (1970-1971). - season 17

When the seventeenth season opened, Lassie was on her own with no explanation offered as to the whereabouts of rangers Erickson, Turner, or Stuart. The men had simply been dropped without ceremony from the series. The good dog wandered from place to place helping needy humans and animals. Poor Lassie had become, in essence, a stray. This was the series' last network season; Lassie would enter syndication the following year.

209059

The Holden Ranch Years (1971-1972). - season 18 to 19

In the syndicated eighteenth and nineteenth seasons, Lassie found a place on the Holden Ranch, a foster home for boys run by Garth Holden. The Holden Ranch Years opened with Lassie still travelling about alone and helping needy animals. In the first episode of the syndicated years, Lassie was swept away in a torrent. Two young men associated with the Holden Ranch spotted her in the waters and rescued her. Her life thereafter was involved with the boys on the Holden Ranch and their neighbors in nearby Solvang, California. A blind girl and her mother living near the Holden Ranch had prominent roles in the story as well as a female veterinarian working in a nearby park for abandoned and abused animals. The syndicated series held the potential for a new lease on life for the show but a change in America's cultural winds brought Lassie to a close.

209060

In the early 1970s, America entered an age of cynicism. The country had suffered a decade of unrest, of scandals high and low, assassinations, college protests, civil rights demonstrations, the introduction of the pill, women's lib, challenges to prevailing mores, and the war in Vietnam. America had been shaken to its core. The apple pie wholesomeness of Lassie appeared dated and ironic to a nation innundated nightly with tv news programs exposing the underbelly of American life. Brash, in-your-face sitcoms like All in the Family and Good Times were the order of the day. Lassie, one of the best and most loved shows in tv history, came to a dignified close at the end of its 19th season in 1973.

Yes and No

I was able to get the first season from a collector friend but then on the weekend I was at a DVD/Video Game (ps3, XBox, etc ..) warehouse store where they try to move old stock at discouned prices and to my surprise, there were about 10 copies of the season 1 Lassie series (the 90's version) right on the shelves!! I couldn't believe it.
I should have picked them up and put them on ebay (I wasn't thinking)
I think I'll go by there and pickup the whole lot.

The packaging was in french however.
but both language tracks are on the DVD

Your Sets SMOKE all the others I've seen for sale. Growing up in the late 1960s and early 1970s, I thought that there were THREE Differant "Lassies" made over the years, "Jeff's Collie", "Timmy and Lassie" and finally the "Ranger" Lassie(Which was where this series was when I was first introduced to the dawg). Why? Because when this series was "Broken Up" for Syndication, the Stations in my area (Detroit, Michigan at that time), NEVER SHOWED any of the episodes from seasons 4 or 11, where Lassie changes owners! Only after getting the sets offered by Y2K3Joker was I FINALLY able to see these "Lost" Episodes, and put all the pieces together.

Good Job!

Lassie ran 19 years? That's 133 dog years.

Lassie was still going after 133 years. Betty White said "so?"

But seriously, everything looks beautiful.

Kudos on putting together an amazing collection.

Actually it's 133 Years. These sets are OUTSTANDING, and I thank Heaven someone had the guts to put these out, since Classic Media/Dreamworks refuses to make this series, save for a handful of episodes available on DVD. As I mentioned earlier, I never knew why Lassie changed owners, because whoever was in charge of syndicating this program left out the seasons where the dog changed hands, as well as the "Experimental" Episodes of Seasons Nine and Ten, where Lassie spent time away from Timmy and was in the hands of other people. The Five-Part Episode from Season Ten called The Disappearance sealed Lassie's Fate, as it received the most positive feedback among viewers. Bear in mind the Producers of this show realized John Provost ("Timmy") was growing up, and would most likely do the same thing Tommy Rettig ("Jeff") did as he achieved adolescence. Tommy Rettig indicated that he no longer wanted to be in the series, so they arranged to phase him out in Season Four, but when the Actor known as "Gramps" (George Cleveland) assumed Room Temperature during filming they pushed things up a bit, and Jeff gives Lassie to Timmy in an episode that starts with a Reception after Gramp's Funeral.

The case for Timmy was a bit more complicated. The Producers pondered the question "What would force Timmy to give up ownership of Lassie?" (I have an idea, lets WHACK Timmy ) NO, if we do that we'll get "Flame Mail" by the ton, and our next season will last 13 episodes and THAT'S IT! Every Idea they came up with got thwarted, until on one fateful day a Studio Employee, who was having a day off decided to visit the set. He wanted to introduce his Boss and fellow Co-Workers to a new addition to his family, a small dog that his neighbor gave to him. Why? His neighbor had gotten a new Job, in Australia. Turns out they had a SUPER STRICT Quarantine policy regarding the importation of Animals that made it virtually impossible to bring your pet. So he gave his dog to his neighbor. The producers checked this out for themselves and that was the Solution they were looking for. So in Season 11 they had Timmy's Father get a Business Opportunity in Australia, and Timmy leaves Lassie with a Neighbor, who then gives the dog to the Forest Ranger who found and cared for Lassie in the aforementioned The Disappearance episode from the previous year, and the series moved on.

I would certainly like to own one of your fabulous collections. I failed to locate how many of the 591 original episodes this will include. I do however have clean VHS copies in SP mode of these three season 15 episodes you do not appear to have:

What Price Valor? Part 1
What Price Valor? Part 2
Moonshiners

If you are interested I could send you the masters and allow you to create your own more perfect reproductions.

I am glad you took it upon yourself to complete a mission on behalf of so many countless others who have had the same desire, but little knowledge, means, or time to undertake it. I believe that C-M wants to continue to "milk" this poor doggie for all She's worth by giving us bread crumbs every few years. Did you see the way they repackaged the 2006 remake as a Christmas story to get people to purchase the same film twice thinking it was something entirely different?

I would like to know more about what Sitcoms Online has to offer the classic TV fan.

Yours Truly,

58Roadmaster

p.s. Yes, I do know that the series Highway Patrol used 1950s Buicks!

Still kicking around if anybody wants to reach me ..... :)

Hi, I was wondering if these are still available. And if they are, would you be willing to sell just seasons 1-11 to me in a set and just seasons 4-11 in another set? Could you give me an idea of what the price might be for the two sets? It's for my mom and aunt. I would greatly appreciate this, your sets do look very professional! Also, I live in Canada, so what might shipping costs be? Thanks, I hope you're still selling these!

JOKER's "Lassie Project"

http://addicted2print.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Mondo-Batman75-Edmiston-Romero-262x350.jpghttps://a1-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/69/add8cab974e7d8189dae02ef473cd4a0/300x300.jpg

I may personally vouch for the condition and service of the video from http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e223/rizzle69/joker.gif Joker's "Lassie Project." I ordered some DVD discs of "Lassie" episodes from Seasons Nine-11 I hadn't seen since their original, prime-time broadcast run on http://michaelhingson.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/logo-cbs.gif and the episodes were in nearly pristine condition, albeit with syndication-run opening and closing sequences in most of the episodes. At least one of the episodes (and I think more) contained an opening sequence from a brief Saturday-morning children's programming block on http://michaelhingson.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/logo-cbs.gif titled "The Adventures of Lassie."

Many of the episodes in http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e223/rizzle69/joker.gif Joker's "Lassie Project" were recorded from the former http://www.getbeeline.com/admin/images/logo_tvland.gif http://fijione.tv/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Canada.jpg. It amazes me http://www.sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/university_technology_services/support/images/smtvland.gif in the United States never showed "Lassie" for very long. But perhaps that was because TVL's parent company, Viacom, had already showed "Lassie" several years (from 1984-1996) on sister cable channel https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/2612917585/nickelodeon_logo_normal.jpg. Then, of course "Lassie" was shown several years (1996 through the early 2000s) on http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1371955659s/18085191.jpg channel. And there are some eps. from that cable channel's run interspersed among this collection too.

http://episodes.lassieweb.org/lassjourney3.jpg

I had hoped the five-parts' episode arc from Season Nine titled "The Journey" would have the original narration (including previews of the following weeks' episodes for parts one through four, and recaps of the previous weeks' eps. in parts two through five) of series' Associate Producer Bonita Granville Wrather, which, of course, were eliminated when these episodes were edited into a theatrical feature titled "Lassie's Great Adventure." But such was not the case. However, it was confirmed this story arc was, indeed, originally broadcast in five, beautiful color parts; a special color opening sequence, a sepia-tinted version of the closing sequence, although the original broadcast commercials remained in black and white. But no original broadcast sponsor commercials are included in this "Lassie" DVD collection, just good, clean copies of the episodes themselves.

However, if one is really a stickler about such matters, one may easily download some of several original broadcast Campbell's Soup commercials featuring the "Lassie" cast that are abundant on YouTube, then edit them into the episodes using Windows Movie Maker or some other such video editing program. For my part, I am creating a project reproducing the CBS Sunday evening line-up from those first four appearances of The Beatles on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1964. So not only will I be availing myself of those Campbell's/Franco-American spots from "Lassie," but also other sponsor commercials for the rest of the CBS Sunday prime time line-up.

There was another five parts' episode of "Lassie" in Season 10, "The Disappearance" (which introduced U.S. Forest Service Ranger "Cory Stuart"), that did contain Mrs. Wrather's original CBS broadcast narration. I guess it just depended on what exactly was issued for syndication.

If one is only interested in a superficial collection of "Lassie" from various periods, Classic Media's DVD sets may be satisfactory to those needs. Certainly a "best of" the Christmas story episodes is available, as well a "Best of Jeff's Collie" and a few "Timmy & Lassie" DVD collections. But if one is really looking for very good-to-excellent quality episodes of "Lassie" from all 19 years of its original broadcast run (17 years on http://michaelhingson.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/logo-cbs.gif, two years in first-run syndication), I recommend doing business with http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e223/rizzle69/joker.gifJoker's "Lassie Project." The guy is not just a business, but also a genuine fan of "Lassie" who has dedicated himself to this project for many years. As such, he deserves credit and your business.

"Joker" hails from Canada, which I find symbolic, as was in those five parts of "The Journey" episode of "Lassie" wherein "Timmy Martin" and his loyal collie, "Lassie," were whisked away in an errant hot air balloon to the Canadian wilderness (actually filmed in the U.S. High Sierra range) and rescued by a kind-hearted, deaf mute Indian (portrayed by Richard Kiel) and, eventually, by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Some half a century later, now, another Canadian named "Joker" has rescued "Lassie" again for true fans of this beloved TV series.

Certainly, unless and until Classic Media/Dreamworks decides to release all original broadcast-run episodes of "Lassie," the http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e223/rizzle69/joker.gifJoker's "Lassie Project" should be your go-to source for all 571 episodes of the original "Lassie" TV series on DVD. This collector has worked very hard and long in assembling this collection, and you would do well to engage in a trade or some other tangible transaction with him to obtain these great condition episodes of "Lassie" on DVD!

I'm hoping someone can help me? Does anyone know the title of the Lassie episode in which child actress Erin Murphy guest-starred in? She was the little girl who played Tabitha on Bewitched. Erin has mentioned in past interviews that she guest-starred on Lassie after Bewitched ended so I'm thinking it would be sometime around 1972 (Lassie's final years). Thank you.

"The Visitor" (01/13/73): One blustery day Lassie and Willy fish a small furry dog from the creek in front of the house; while making him welcome the family notices the dog is afraid of everything, including ducks in the pond, horses, and even crickets. Lassie tries to acclimate him to country living, but can he cope when she's trapped under a fallen tree branch? Andy: Mark Miranda. Willy; Radames Pera. Phil Craig: Fred Holliday. Molly Craig: Erin Murphy.
• Trivia: The foundling's name is "Muffin."
• Note: Muffin is played by Higgins, who for many years played Betty Jo's little dog in Petticoat Junction and was trained by Frank Inn, who for many years worked with Rudd Weatherwax (in Son of Lassie, it's Frank Inn, not Peter Lawford, that you see jump from the bridge with Laddie in his arms). (Higgins was known simply as "Dog" on Petticoat Junction.) A year after this episode aired, Higgins, now age 15, would rocket to fame in a low-budget, highly-acclaimed film entitled Benji, and he took that name for the rest of his life; his daughter then became the new "Benji." And if the little girl playing Molly looked familiar, she was: Erin Murphy (along with her twin sister Diane when the girls were both younger) played Tabitha Stephens on the long-running comedy Bewitched.

I HAVE SOME SEASONS OF THESE DVDS. THEY ARE BETTER THAN I CAN MAKE. THESE ARE AS GOOD IN QUALITY AND MENUS AS A RETAIL SET. RETAIL WILL NEVER RELEASE ALL THESE SEASONS EITHER. THE MARKET IS TOO SMALL FOR THEM.

I have a nagging question, it's always on my mind as I watch Joker's excellent set. I remember at the time I bought his set (I bought the Timmy years) that he had said that some episodes were missing. This was probably 10 years ago or more that I bought his Timmy years set.

So exactly What episodes are missing from these Timmy years sets? I don't know what episodes are missing so I don't know what to look for to try to get. Very frustrating. Can Joker or someone tell me which are the episodes missing from this set?
Thanks in advance.

Are you still selling these? I have been stressing out looking for a complete set of the episodes for years, or a way to watch them online. Around here they stopped airing it on TV, so I have no way to watch it. I once got cheated by a website that claimed a complete box set but none of the discs would even play and when I contacted them about it I never got an answer, meaning they cheated me.

If the set was sold could you get the buyer to copy all episodes onto a data disc for me so that I can watch them?
