Hey everybody! Who's the most loveable dork on TV? So here's a short list... feel free to add on! But remeber... each show may only have one representative for this event!

Gilligan (Gilligan's Island)
Maynard G. Krebs (Dobbie Gillis)
Potzie (Happy Days)
Screech (Saved by the Bell)
Barney Fife (Andy Griffith Show)
Uncle Joey (Full House)
Arvid (Head of the Class)
Harry (3rd Rock from the Sun)
Squiggy (Laverne & Shirley)

Ugh! Toss-up between Squiggy and Gilligan! Most people don't think Squiggy's lovable, but I do! He's odd, yes, but he's... he's... I like him!

"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!"

"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!"

oooh, this is a toughie, so many good choices. First off, get to say the Paul Pheiffer from the wonder years deserves to be on the list of the best. that being said, I have a few personal favorites. First off, Arvid is a favorite. i don't know, he just seemed the most "real" of the dorks. Potsie was the coolest dork, if they all got together, he'd be the leader. Screech was up there for a long time, then hit "Saved By the Bell: the new class", and that all went to hell, although my intrest in screech did pick up with the SNL skit of Dustin Diamond on "Actors Studio". in the end, the best dork of all time in my opinion was probably Arvid, because he emodied everything a dork should be and more. I just wanna say, glad to see no "Urkel" votes, he gives TV dorks a bad name.

Matthew on NewsRadio.

Ooh, forgot about Mathew (deftly played by Andy Dick)... he's great! I always envisioned him co-staring in a sit com with David Arquette (the 1-800-call-ATT guy), and the title of the show would be "Twitch Biscuits", which is a term that my sister and I came up with to describe people like that. Here's the premise of the show:

Andy and David are sort of twins seperated at birth, but not really. See, Andy was part of a set of twins that where born on the same day that David was born, and a nurse accidenatlly put Andy together with David, instead of with his real brother. Luckilly, before all the parents left the hospital, the mistake was caught and all the children where sent home with their proper parents. An article about the incident made it on to the news as a "And in other news..." segment, and even had a few newspaper articles written about it. Everything seemed fine, until one day...

Andy is grown up and living with his VERY straight-laced twin sister, Andrea. They are not *identical* twins, but they do look a lot alike (possibly get Ellen Degeneres to play Andrea?). Andy is basically the character of "Mathew" from News Radio... a real Twitch Biscuit. One day he goes in to a local fast food restaurant where David is working, and once they see eachother it's like they remember eachother. They start investigating, and find out that they where the children that where almost switched at birth! Since Andy's siter is a rich professional somethign or other (probably a lawyer or advertising executive... both can lead to funny situations), Andy invites David to move in to their huge apartment with them. Andrea doesn't like David right from the start, but allows him to live there becuase she will do anything for her brother. David, however, has a mad crush on Andrea. Andrea is just amazed at how absolutely the same that David and Andy act... many times they will actually mirror eachother, and exhibit certain twin-like behavior.

The show will look something like a cross between "Silver Spoons" and the movie "Dumb and Dumber".

So does anybody have an oppinion on my idea?

I'll have to say Gilligan, even though he's the most annoying person in the world and he would drive me nuts. By the way, Ross is not a dork... he's just really smart... and nice. He isn't annoying or anything, he's just unlucky.

I'd have to put Gilligan as the all-time likable 'dork'. So likable, that maybe he WASN'T one afterall. Geez, he could've gotten with Ginger (or maybe even MaryAnn) if he wanted.

Arvid? I'm sorry, but he was just not a good example of one. 'Weakest TV-Nerd of All Time'. So what if he wore taped glasses - that don't mean nothin'. Had no personality that you could laugh at either. If anything, Arvid was LESS dorky than those SUPPOSEDLY 'cool' classmates of his - especially that 'rebel' dude with the leather jacket. Head of the Class-mates were no Sweathogs; that's for sure.

How about Richie Cunningham? Hey, it's an interesting point.

"Hey there........Bucko!"
"Sit on it!!"
"Eye-love-EWE."

No wonder Arlene left him, changed her name to 'Cassiopia', and took off with Starbuck on-board the Gallactica.

Richie's not a dork! Well, maybe a little bit of a geek-nerd type person, but not a dork...

I dont think that Richie is a classic nerd. He's just smart and a all around sweet and nice guy. Besides, he's too cute to ever be labeled as "nerd".

Yeah, Arvid is a little bit on the nerdy side, but that's who he is and that is what he wants to be like so that is okay by me!

Just to get something straight, I said Richie wasn't a DORK. I did say Richie is a nerd. But he's not a dork. There's a difference. Well, I think there is anyway...

Yes you are right! There is a difference! A dork is someone that couldn't be cool even if they tried, they're like a nerd that tries to be cool or like thinks there cool, or dresses cool but just isn't. A nerd is someone that knows he aint cool and doesn't even try to be, and is usually smart (Note: USUALLLY not ALWAYS, USUALLY!) and just ya know...Richie Cunningham!

Since I'm the one who started this topic, maybe I should define "Dork". Basically, it's just another word for "Comic Relief". Natalie and Tootie on Facts of Life, Mr. Furley on Threes Company, Barney Fife on THe Andy Griffith Show (Don Knotts *is* the perrenial TV Dork)... anybody who is the character that everyone laughs at. So although Richie Cunning ham *is* a *nerd*, he isn't really a "Dork". I think the only Dorks on Happy Days are Ralph and Potzie. Does this help clear things up? I sure hope so!

I would have to say Oswald and Lewis from Drew Carey! And how about Kimmie Gibbler from Full House as a female dork?

I think for the most loveable dork in the world of sitcoms is Steve Urkle. Some people may think he isn't a dork, just a nerd but I believe that even if he isn't he is still such a big nerd that he can be considered a dork!!! Family Matters was a cool show, But technically everybody on that show was a dork!!!

I gotta say the most loveable dork is Barney Fife. He had some very funny scenes. Like when he yelled "Shakedown" in that episode about the rock. The whole episodes of Barney's First car and Barney's Sidecar makes me laugh so hard!

I would have to say Gomer Pyle no matter how much trouble he got himself into you would have to laugh.

Well it's just got be Gilligan. I think he's really not a dork but he just is very clumsy, and bumbling. But he is so sweet, caring, loveable and me and Gilligan would be great friends because he is just friendly and sometimes I'm kind of like a Gilligan. Maynard would be my second choice. He really isn't a dork too but he just says words differently and just is himself. I like Gilligan and Maynard because they are both acted by Bob Denver. He wasn't clumsy or bumbling like Gilligan or said strange and funny sounding words like Maynard but was kind of like each character because he is nice and caring like Gilligan and all he did to act Maynard, since he didn't know what a beatnik was like was to act a young version of himself and also to go to coffeehouses where beatniks hung out but he acted those characters so funny and it was like he really was like them. He really has talent to act those characters so funny and that's why I like those two characters. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif I also like Barney Fife acted by Don Knotts. He is also very funny. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

There is Michael from Joey and Eric forman from that 70's Show but the most loveable dork of sitcom land is Ross Geller. He is handsome , yet nerdy..silly but sweet, and he is very romantic.

Well I don't find Niles Crane nerdy, but he'd be my top choice for most loveable. However if we're talking about nerds, I'd pick Bob Bulldog Briscoe!
