Great song choices Steve!
Steve M. 02-15-2010, 12:45 AM Thanks. You'd be amazed at how much trouble I had coming up with a song to fit Mary Ann.
Prince Michael 12-11-2012, 05:44 AM Really, Steve ? Mind you, "Sweet Country Woman," by Johnny Duncan is a good choice, but every time I hear Boston's "More Than A Feeling" with the line "I see my Mary Ann walking away", I picture Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island !

Oh, I thought the name in Boston's song was "Marion," probably because that was my stepgrandmother's name!
Smilings 12-11-2012, 05:13 PM "We Gotta Get Outa This Place"
Those are all pretty good ones.

No, Steve, the name in "More Than A Feeling" was "Mary Ann" . Your mind probably did go to "Marion" because you knew somebody with that name . I typed "I see my Mary Ann walking away" into the Yahoo ! search engine to find out the name of the song and the group that sang it .
This episode reminded me of another situation . The closing song of Gilligan's Island went "They'll have to make the best of things ... It's an uphill climb ... The first mate and the skipper too, will do their very best ... to make the others comfortable in their tropic island nest ..." , My friend Carl is also a Gilligan's Island fan, and he thought the lines were "It's enough to cry" and "their tropic island mess" .
Steve M. 12-13-2012, 12:32 PM They came up with a new spoken-word theme song for the "New Adventures of Gilligan" cartoon series of the '70s that rhymed "the millionaire and his wife" with "began a brand new life."
In a strange but happy place! :)
Steve M. 12-17-2012, 11:42 PM This episode reminded me of another situation . The closing song of Gilligan's Island went "They'll have to make the best of things ... It's an uphill climb ... I thought the opening song of "Gilligan's Island" said they were going for "a free-hour's tour." One hour, three hours, what's the difference, they still didn't need all those clothes! :D
Prince Michael 12-18-2012, 04:52 AM On another thread, I said "Rescue From Gilligan's Island was actually my first taste of Gilligan's Island ." . When I wrote that, I forgot that my REAL first taste of Gilligan's Island was The New Adventures of Gilligan . I got to see the original live -- action series a few years later .
I used to think the Gilligan's Island theme song ( "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island" ) said "Five passengers and crew set sail that day, for a three -- hour tour" . It REALLY said "Five passengers set sail that day, for a three -- hour tour" . I wondered where I got the "Five passengers and crew" idea . I figured I only half -- remembered the theme song .
Your comment about the opening theme of The New Adventures of Gilligan got me interested . I found a video for it on YouTube, and it said it was "The story of the Minnow, five passengers and crew" .
Finally, is your playlist complete without "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island" and the opening theme of The New Adventures of Gilligan ?
I was about to say "Don't get me started on all the clothes they had on the island !" . Instead, go to http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=133776 and scroll down to the bottom for my ideas .

And to think the guy who wrote the "Gilligan's Island" theme song also wrote "It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!"
