Heather Mills is constantly guarded when questioned about her divorce from Paul McCartney - because the former model fears she will end up in jail if she reveals too much.

The couple separated in 2006 after four years of marriage, leading to an ugly public divorce battle.

The Beatles star was ordered to hand over $38.9 million of his fortune to Mills after their union was officially dissolved in 2008.

Mills was banned from talking about the divorce proceedings - and now she's constantly wary of what she says as a result.

She says, "The judge decided to put it in the judgment that I would be gagged for my whole life and that I would go to prison if I talked about it."

But the 42 year old is angry the ban was imposed - because she was unable to speak up when she read hurtful things about her in the media.

She adds, "I found that very unfair because of all the lies being said that I wasn't allowed to defend myself. And because of the vilification in the press, my career was ruined completely."

You both took the words right out of my mouth! I never even heard of her before I found out they were getting married.

I probably shouldn't feel this way because I'm sure there are a lot of people who say that Paul is to blame, but I feel sorry for him; or at least I did when I found out that they had split. Back when they were getting married, I read an article in People Magazine and it said that his kids were adamantly opposed to his marrying her. She's not that much older than his kids. But they supported him, and I'm sure that when they split, it was a case of "I told you so". He thought he had finally found happiness after Linda and it came crashing down on him. I heard he had found someone new, so I hope that's working out. I know he'll never find anyone as special as Linda, though.

I do hope someday that Paul finds another love like he found with Linda. Those two were magical together.

I think it's pretty ridiculous that Heather was put under a gag order as part of the divorce agreement. No matter how you feel about the woman it's blatantly unfair that Sir Paul can say anything he wants about her and she can't even defend herself due to this gag order. I've never ever heard of a gag order being part of a divorce agreement.

Before marrying Sir Paul, Heather worked as a model and even opened her own agency. She currently works as an advocate for amputee's, animal rights, and the banning of land mines. She is currently involved in a program that is seeking to collect used prostheses to be donated to earthquake victims in Haiti. I have a lot of respect for this very selfless woman.

I think she was gagged because she tells a lot of lies - I had NEVER heard of her before she married Paul. And all the charities that she worked at he funded them. So her 'career' such as it was, Paul created and funded. She was dishes up a lots of untruth dirt about him and that is why she is not allowed to say more. He took the upper road.[Q
