NBC Testing New 10pm Shows?
By Chris Ariens on Jan 18, 2010 10:28 AM

Tipsters tell us another News: VIPs survey is circulating asking about a new crime TV show called "Mystery - Unsolved". The premise: violent crime re-enactments with actors portraying the murder victims and telling their stories. News: VIPs surveys are conducted by a company called Vision Critical which provides targeted research to clients including NBC. And considering NBC is going to have some hours to fill at 10pm, you may see this program soon... if it tests well. You'll recall NBC aired a show called "Unsolved Mysteries" from 1988-1997.

A previous News VIPs survey asked about Al Roker hosting a show on the Weather Channel. Seven months later "Wake up with Al" turned up on the Weather Channel schedule.

LOL....Why don't they just reverse the words and call it "Unsolved Mysteries" and bring the old show back with NEW episodes!!

It'll only be one day a week at 10 PM et/9 PM ct. At least they should try it out for 10 or 12 episdoes and see how it goes.

Well, I have no ojection to the idea of new shows in the vein of Unsolved Mysteries or America's Most Wanted, especially since having only one show of that kind on the air is far from enough. My issue, however, is the title: "Mystery - Unsolved." Because of the title, I worry that people will very easily misidentify it as "Unsolved Mysteries." (Much too easily.)

Why is that worry??

That's a good thing since old fans of the show could tune in.

The name is bizarre, "Mystery-Unsolved". Why not just call it Unsolved Mysteries and give it a trial run of 10 episodes or so?

These days you don't need nearly as good ratings to stay on the air as you did back in the 80s or even early 90s since there are so many more entertainment options.

Exactly my initial thought was alright that's nice, but why don't they just bring back UM?
