View Full Version : 'The Insider' host Lara Spencer Says that Gary Coleman is "angry" & "negative"
Brian Damage 02-12-2010, 08:51 PM 'The Insider' host Lara Spencer met one-time child star Gary Coleman, who shot to fame with the role of Arnold Drummond in '80s favorite 'Diff'rent Strokes' - and she walked away less than impressed.
Spencer tells PopEater in her exclusive video blog: "After our taping, our little chitchat, people couldn't get away from him fast enough. Little Gary Coleman - little Arnold - is possibly one of the most negative, angry people I have ever met."

Yea I've known this for probably 20 years.

Everybody (except apparently Lara Spencer) has known this for 20 years.
catlover79 02-13-2010, 12:45 AM Gee, any one of us here could've told her that.
70s show watcher 02-13-2010, 05:10 AM as norm mcdonald would just anoher headline from the pages of DUH
brownie87 02-16-2010, 04:36 PM I knew about this, but I think it's a shame, because he was so funny on "Diff'rent Strokes".
ssudioTVgirl 02-20-2010, 04:31 PM I just watched the episode of "The Insider" where Gary stormed off the set after being grilled by those idiot panelists. I know he has some issues, but those people were out of line. He said he did not abuse his wife, nor did she abuse him. But that one lady, Lisa Bloom, just kept at him and he was sitting there trying to keep his cool until he finally blew his top. Truth be told, I don't blame the guy for storming off the set like that.
TV Knowledge Fan 02-20-2010, 05:39 PM ...Gary figured he could keep the momentum of his career going after "DIFF'RENT STROKES" ended. The problem was, as with most child actors, he just wasn't as "endearing" to the public as an adult. When the offers to star in other movies and TV shows dried up, so did Gary. And, like most former child stars, he became increasingly bitter and cynical about himself and the industry...that's why he's the way he is today.
As for Lara Spencer, I remember her from way back in the days when she was a reporter/anchor on WABC-TV's "EYEWITNESS NEWS" in New York. Only now, she's even more of a "mindless automaton" than usual {all smile and virtually nothing else underneath}. Working on "ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT" and "THE INSIDER" for an extended period of time has done that to most people [if you ever punched her or Mary Hart in the face, they'd literally fall apart].

robyrob 02-20-2010, 08:11 PM this whole story is a bunch of one-sided BS.
I watched that "interview" and it was the four "hosts" of The Insider just ganging up on Gary, grilling him and asking him the same questions over and over again, not even letting him get a word in edgewise, until he had had enough, he said he was going to leave, they kept at him, so he told them to eff-off and left.
under the same circumstances I think ANYONE would have reacted the same way he did.

I didn't see the interview but if they did that then I don't blame him. I do think that some in the media likes to keep some of these former stars down so they'll have something to report on. It's tabloid journalism.

Agreed. Just sickening.

I take it that you don't care for Lara Spencer that much now that she's on Good Morning America (https://web.archive.org/web/20140409043842/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/3117883-good-morning-america/page-21#entry14687661).
