MTV canceled the airing, this past Monday, Feb. 8th –in Mexico only--of an episode in which a caricature of Mexican President Felipe Calderon appears in front of a Mexican flag, the Associated Press reports.
The network said it hasn’t gotten government permission to show the episode, noting that there is a law stating that the flag must be handled with respect. Interior Ministry spokesman Luis Estrada said the government hasn't received a request from MTV for permission to air it.
The fine for violating the law is 52,590 peso ($4,900).
