In the episode " The Boy's Paper Route" , why does Ozzie get stuck delivering the newspapers on the first day of their job?

The boys have colds?

Isn't that such a cliche' sitcom premise. The kids always have some little 'sniffles' and the parents end up doing the job for them.

And with Dave and Ricky, Harriet is so concerned about them but the next morning they seem perfectly fine and have no signs of a cold. Harriet usually wasn't protrayed as so over protective. That's what made Harriet a cool mom.. much cooler than Margaret on Father Knows Best or Donna Reed. She didn't coddle Dave and Ricky. She didn't over react. She was there, supportive, encouraging and helped out where she could but she wasn't meddling. She let the boys handle their own problems for the most part.

I think the same thing happened on a "Father Knows Best" episode I believe titled "Bud's Paper Route"....Bud either has a cold, but I know it's pouring rain out when Jim delivers the papers. I think I am remembering this correctly.

I think that sounds familiar. And, ya know when the fathers have to take over the route, there always has to be bad weather.

I know it's another show, but after watching seasons 1,2,and 3 all back to back, I felt sorry for Bud. Jim seemed to always expect so much from him, to be as smart as and perfect at everything as Betty. It must have been hard trying to live up to perfect Betty. I think Bud Anderson was the original Jan Brady.:lol:

Speaking of colds... there's that one episode where the whole family except for Ozzie, got a shot from Dr. Williams to ward off a cold.

Ozzie decided to go the way of his grandmothers remedy, an old medicne with Abe Lincolns picture on it. It was mostly alcohol.

Anyway I remember watching that episode and being like they're getting shots for colds?

Ozzie's old fashion remedy isn't so old fashion, it'd prob be like he was taking NiQuil of today.
