Phil Harris, who was a fishing boat captain of the Cornelia Marie (http://www.corneliamarie.com) on the hit Discovery Channel series Deadliest Catch about crab fishing in the dangerous Alaska waters, died after suffering a massive stroke January 29 while the boat was in port at St. Paul Island, Alaska. Phil is survived by his sons Jake and Josh. The family notified the network of Phil's death Tuesday. He was 53.

Phil came to our small coastal town a few months back for a book signing. For three hours the line wove through two long supermarket aisles and then out the door. The police had to direct traffic and they finally had to turn people away. Phil was loved by many people.

I thought he passed away a few weeks ago,I saw his picture on Today thing that pops up on the computer.
