That's right, ladies and gentlemen, that cheesy Hallmark holiday movie that shoves no less than 15 huge Hollywood starts into one feature already has a pseudo sequel in the works. Despite the fact that every actor in the Valentine's Day will probably have less than 10 minutes of screen-time, this ensemble cast formula (which is surprisingly cheap for the number of in-demand talents involved) is proving to be pretty hot. So hot that producers Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener are already looking at a new script from Valentine's Day writer Katherine Fugate that takes the ensemble romantic comedy and sets it on New Years Eve.

No doubt a movie like this is going to rake in the cash. Aside from the sheer number of stars involved, this type of cliche romantic story always has an audience. Now as bitter as I sound towards romance, I'm still a guy who can enjoy a good romance. I've loved the heartbreaking, emotional romance of The Notebook, the conceptually peculiar love of The Lake House, the love-vignette fest Paris Je'Taime, and the comedically charming When Harry Met Sally. But this ensemble formula doesn't allow me to connect or even care about any of the characters. I don't care if all their stories end up intertwining or not, because I already saw Crash, and don't need to see a romantic comedy version of it again every holiday until we get to President's Day!
