I guess I won't get to see Secret Life any more. I'm usually gone when it airs Monday nights and had been catching it Tuesdays at midnight. Glad to see 8 Simple Rules back to weekdays.

That 70's show is now officially The New Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as the leaders of overkill!

Great to see 8 Simple Rules back. I have been watching it on weekends the past couple of weeks, and I certainly will tune in every night at 6:00. 8 Simple Rules lives on !

Well Grounded for Life will return in March after a month off the schedule.

Weekdays, Effective Tuesday, March 2, 2010
9:00am Grounded for Life (replaces Step by Step)
[The movie The Sixth Sense airs March 1 from 7-9:30am.]

It is strange because Step by Step was originally on the March schedule, so I had thought they renewed it, since it was expiring in March 2010...but now they have removed it. I'll try to find out if they renewed or not.

I hope there not getting rid of Step by Step I like that show. If ABC Family does drop it I hope another channel picks it up maybe Nick at Nite?

If Family Matters hasn't done well on Nick at Nite I don't think Step by Step will. It would be a good fit for the Disney channel.

If Family Matters hasn't done well on Nick at Nite I don't think Step by Step will. It would be a good fit for the Disney channel. When was the last time Disney Channel aired a show it didn't make itself? I think they're so focused on their own little "stars" right now that it will be a long time, if ever, that they start airing old sitcoms again.

Step by Step could work on Nick at Nite. Those later seasons are a great fit, especially in the 8pm hour. The earlier seasons could air late night.

Hasn't the show been on ABC Family since like 2000? Although, Grounded For Life airing at 9am is a very strange fit. It would be a decent fit for NAN, but I could only see them airing it in latenight, with Family Matters.

That would cool if N@N picked it up because I didn't get a chance to see the 94-98 era because I was in college, only 91-93

I really hope Step by Step is renewed - it's been on ABC Family since it was Fox Family, even. It would be sad to see it go.

It could fit with Teenick, since they're airing Full House from 8-10 weeknights - they could just give one of those hours to Step by Step since those 2 fit together well. While they're at it, bring over Family Matters from N@N and get Boy Meets World. Then,

8:Full House
830:Step by Step
9:Family Matters
930:Boy Meets World

Then the rest of the schedule they can keep with WILAY and That 70s Show.

That would be a dream come true right there!

Network’s “Campus Crush” 10-Day Summer Programming Event

Burbank, CA (Monday, March 29, 2010) -- Paul Lee, president, ABC Family, today announced the network’s summer 2010 schedule. The network’s programming slate includes three new original series, returning hits, original movies and blockbuster theatrical acquisitions. The network finished 2009 as its best year on record.

“ABC Family has truly become a factory for great Millennial storytelling,” said Lee. “We’re so proud of our three summer launches, ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ ‘Huge’ and ‘Melissa & Joey,’ and we think they’ll make the perfect complement to our returning hits ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’ and ‘Make It or Break’.”

“Pretty Little Liars” follows four estranged best friends who are reunited one year after their best friend and queen bee of the group, Alison, goes missing -- only to discover they’re receiving messages from an anonymous "A" who knows all their secrets. The drama stars Lucy Hale (“Privileged”) as Aria, Troian Bellisario (“Navy NCIS”) as Spencer, Ashley Benson (“Eastwick”) as Hanna, Shay Mitchell as Emily and Sasha Pieterse (“Heroes”) as Alison. Also starring are Laura Leighton (“Melrose Place”), Bianca Lawson (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Ian Harding (“NCIS: Los Angeles”). Produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television.
I. Marlene King (“If These Walls Could Talk”), Oliver Goldstick (“Lipstick Jungle,” “Desperate Housewives”), and Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy (“Gossip Girl,” “The Vampire Diaries”) are executive-producing. The series is based on Alloy Entertainment’s popular young adult book series written by Sara Shepard. “Pretty Little Liars” premieres on Tuesday, June 8 at 8:00PM ET/PT.

“Huge” is being developed by Winnie Holzman (“Wicked,” “My So-Called Life,” “Once & Again”) and daughter Savannah Dooley. Funny, heartbreaking and provocative, “Huge” follows the lives of seven teens and the staff at a weight-loss camp, as they look beneath the surface to discover their true selves and the truth about each other. The series stars Nikki Blonsky (“Hairspray”), Andrew Caldwell, Zander Eckhouse, Harvey Guillen, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holliday and Hayley Hasselhoff. Holzman will be executive producer on the premiere episode, and will serve as consultant for the remainder of the episodes. Dooley will serve as producer on the series. Kim Rozenfeld (“American High”), and Alloy Entertainment’s Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy (“Gossip Girl,” “The Vampire Diaries”), will serve as executive producers; Robin Schiff (“Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion” and ABC Family’s “10 Things I Hate About You”) will serve as a consulting producer. The series is based on the Alloy Entertainment book written by Sasha Paley. “Huge” premieres Monday, June 28 at 9:00PM ET/PT.

“Melissa & Joey,” a half-hour multi-cam comedy with Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence executive producing and starring, finds Hart portraying Mel, the grown-up former wild child of a political family who is now a local politician herself. When her sister ends up in prison and her brother-in-law flees after a scandal hits, Mel must take responsibility for her teenaged niece, Lennox, and pre-adolescent nephew, Ryder. With Mel spread too thin to manage by herself, help comes in the unlikely form of Joe (Lawrence) who, desperate for a job, moves in and becomes the family’s “manny.” David Kendall & Bob Young are executive producers and writers. Paula Hart also serves as executive producer. “Melissa & Joey” will premiere in August 2010 (Date TBA).

Two of the network’s one-hour original hit series will mark their returns: “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” will launch its third season on Monday, June 7, at 8:00PM ET/PT, and “Make It or Break It” will premiere its second season on Monday, June 28 at 10:00PM ET/PT.

The network will also present the new two-hour original movie premiere, “Revenge of the Bridesmaids,” in July (DATE TBA). When best friends Abigail (Raven-Symoné) and Parker (Joanna Garcia) return to their small, Southern home town for a visit, they learn that their close friend, Rachel, has lost the love of her life, Tony, to their ex-friend Caitlin – a conniving gold-digger. Intent upon preventing the loveless marriage, Parker and Abigail go "undercover" as Caitlin's bridesmaids to sabotage the wedding. But their best-laid plans start going outrageously awry! Directed by Jim Heyman (“Ugly Betty,” “Drop Dead Diva”), written by David Kendall & Bob Young, produced by Frank von Zerneck & Bob Sertner (“Beauty & the Briefcase,” “Sorority Wars”).

Additionally in July, the network will air its annual “Harry Potter” summer marathon weekend event, featuring the first five films from the popular movie franchise.

The network’s annual 10-day summer programming event, “Campus Crush,” takes place from Sunday, August 1 through – Tuesday, August 10 and will feature the television movie premiere of “Wild Child,” starring Emma Roberts and Natasha Richardson, debuting on Sunday, August 8 at 8:00PM ET/PT. Sixteen-year-old Poppy (Roberts) is an LA teen diva who does what she wants, whenever she wants. But after an over-the-top prank pushes her father one step too far, she finds herself shipped off to the one place where everything will change -- British boarding school. No cell phones, no designer clothes… no way. Desperate to break free, she sets in motion the ultimate escape plan involving the head mistress’ son, only to discover that this could be the reason she wants to stay. Co-starring Natasha Richardson, Aidan Quinn and Nick Frost, directed by Nick Moore, written by Lucy Dahl, produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Alexandra Ferguson and Diana Phillips.

Awesome! I love Boy Meets World. But why 7:00am?

At this point, I don't care what timeslot its in! It's BACK! My favorite show is back! I just hope ratings are good enough to let it at least get through one entire cycle. 'Sucks it'll probably start with the seasons already out on DVD!

A few weeks back, TVSHOWSONDVD.COM (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Boy-Meets-World-Season-4-Coming/13397) reported that season 4 is in fact coming in the fall, and its return ot TV makes me very hopeful!

tbswatcher, they can't air 7th Heaven in the evening. Hallmark now has evening rights. And Fresh Prince is only allowed to air in evenings on ABC Family. I seriously doubt they would move Full House to 7am when it is their anchor for afternoons. There are contract restrictions and also ratings play a big part of scheduling.

Going by ratings and restrictions, I would do this:

7-8am Boy Meets World
8-9am What I Like About You
9am Grounded for Life
9:30am 700 Club
11am 7th Heaven
12-1pm Full House
1-2pm My Wife & Kids
2-3pm Sabrina, the Teenage Witch
3-4pm Boy Meets World
4-5pm 8 Simple Rules
5pm Gilmore Girls
6-7pm That '70s Show
7-8pm Various, most nights That '70s Show
8-11pm primetime
11pm 700 Club
12-1am Whose Line

Fresh Prince weekend late nights starting at 12am. My Wife & Kids also would air before movies on weekends.

Pavan, if BMW does well, is it possible that it'll move to an evening or afternoon slot? Do you know the restrictions of LIONSGATE's contract with ABC Family over this topic?

Pavan
04-01-2010, 04:43 PM
Lionsgate only has Boy Meets World for Home Entertainment, not television. ABC Studios is still doing it for TV. I could see an afternoon slot if it does well, but nothing after 5pm I bet.

04-01-2010, 05:02 PM
I swear, enough 7th Heaven already. Hallmark wears it out, it's on WGN, now ABC Family. Then again, who knows with Hallmark, they could pull it anytime the way they operate.

Heckles101
04-01-2010, 05:13 PM
ABC Studios is still doing it for TV.

So if ABC Studios always held the tv rights, how did ABC Family lose the rights to air it? That makes no sense.

Pavan
04-01-2010, 05:37 PM
ABC Family would still have to purchase a contract to air the show. They did that for 8 Simple Rules and My Wife & Kids also, which are produced by ABC Studios. Everything else is pretty much owned by other studios, like Warner Bros. (Full House, etc.).

TV Studios and TV Channels may belong to the same corporate family, but they are siblings and autonomous--just like if your sister/brother owns a bicycle--they may let you borrow it for a bit or even sell it to you, but in no way means you have ownership of it automatically just because you share the same parents.

That being said, i'm glad to see BMW back on.....it's had a rest and now can be fresh again--at least to me.

WOW! Such great news. I love it when shows come back from what was, essentially, dead. Very odd how they bring back two shows they have already aired in the past just like that and announce it on April Fool's, I really didn't believe it at first.

It's too bad BMW didn't get a better timeslot. Pav, I prefer your schedule because that way 8 Simple Rules and WILAY would still be on the air.

Question: Why don't they air Fresh Prince on weekday nights? Disney XD hardly airs it except very late at night and besides TBS mornings, Fresh Prince could use a 6pm type of airing like it had for a short while. Why would they only air it once a week like that?

Pavan
04-01-2010, 11:48 PM
Fresh Prince aired for a while at 6pm weeknights. Probably didn't do as well as they hoped.

nickandmore
04-01-2010, 11:57 PM
Seem Fresh Prince only did well for Nick at Nite and TeenNick (The N). Both airings on ABC Family and Disney XD didn't seem to work (DXD still airs it weeknights at 2:30am ET only).

I'd love to see Boy Meets World on TeenNick and/or Nick at Nite - I think it could work very well.

TKMetal
04-06-2010, 02:11 PM
Boy Meets World has been off TV for 3 years, so the early morning slot is probably the best for it. You put it on in the afternoon and you're setting it up to fail. If it does better than expected at 7am, they can always move it into a later slot.
