After watching season 9, thats a season I like to call "dark" - because, its not as funny, something about it just isn't right. Perhaps they got new writers on the show for the last season, maybe they decided at the last minute to have 9 be the last instead of 8... Its not even that or just the fact they were running out of ideas, but its just wasn't the same. Was like, Carrie, Doug & everyones trying too hard...

No, I definitely can't agree with that. The last few episodes were a bit "darker" for the show I suppose, but the season had its funny moments.

Yeah, I have to disagree also. The season had great memorable episodes like the one with Sandler & his buddies, the episode where Doug becomes a vegitarian, and the ice cream truck debacle. I guess the reason why it seems so dark is because of the last 3 episodes where the show ventured into themes that we fans weren't used to seeing on this show, I.e. Doug wanting a divorce, the crying and all that. Plus, if you were even remotely a fan of the show, it stung when they played the ending montage of classic clips. I dare one person to say it didn't hit them even a little.

I love everything about KOQ but I have to agree that out of all the series, 9 was the weakest. It definately had its funny moments but when I watch the DVD`s I never seem to goto season 9. To be honest I think it`s the same for all my favourite shows, the last season is always my least favourite. Maybe it is something to do with everyone on the show(writers, actors etc..) trying to show diversity to future employers? Who knows?

King of queens one of the funniest shows of all time.It should still be on right now.I liked season 9 but i agree it wasn't quite as good as the others.I think it's cus everyone knew it was cancelled though,including the writers so they just did the best they could and ive seen far worse.like what happened to roseanne.I hated how it ended

The ending for this show was abysmal. You can't have slap-stick humor for eight and a half years and then go for drama, and deep drama such as a divorce and heartbreak in your final episodes. You also can't start create a half-season long arc after spending an entire run doing standalone episodes with only slight, minor arcs. It didn't work. It was terrible in every way. It's fine to have them adopt a kid and have another on the way. It's fine to have Arthur marry (and divorce) Ms. Olchin (the funniest line of the finale was "It didn't work out!"), but that whole lead up to the end left a bad taste in my mouth. Every episode before the whole Manhattan apartment story line though in the final season was a riot.

Though, it really wasn't "cancelled." It was already decided that season 9 would be the final season before it began. Kevin James was especially ready to move on.

yes,they all knew it was ending. exactly as i said they didn't want it to end though.they we're all shocked and sad about it.I just watched the season 9 dvd.I don't agree that season 9 was abysimal.But it certanly wasn't as good as the other seasons.

The show started to get somewhat more mean spirited in the last two or three seasons. That happens to most sitcoms that last a really long time. The characters usually get dumber or meaner.

Not funny period is a bit extreme. I would say Seasons 3-6 were the best. 1-2 and 7-9 had a different "feel" to them and did seem in some ways inferior. All were great, but 7-9 seemed to have a few too many fillers. The last three episodes to end the show took a turn on purpose. I liked some things about it but there were one too many storylines/climaxes at once. I didn't care for the one where Carri moves to the city, while Doug stays in the house in Queens.

There were some good episodes here and there in that season especially the season opener, "Mama Cast" which was just hilarious with Carrie getting so attached to her fake family.

But by and large, I agree something was a little off about it.

In the last episodes Doug was awfully self righteous and overbearing considering the fact that he was deceptive to her in that episode too. I am glad Kelly reminded her of all of his bad behavior and that she called him on his hypocrisy.

Also, Kevin James/Doug Heffernan seemed so ANGRY in that arc. I liked how they ended up happily with the babies and yes, the return of Arthur but the finale was kind of meh for me.

Interesting that in real life Leah Remini was going through all of that Scientology drama behind the scenes around that time with the notorious Cruise/Holmes wedding stuff that led to her exit from that cult.

I like the finale, I love Doug drunk out back and wanting everyone to wrestle him. But it was a nice wrap up, considering the show was about a married couple and ran for 9 seasons, credit to them for waiting until the end before they got kids.

Before Kevin James “gifted” the world with the comedic duds that are Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 + 2 and every Adam Sandler movie after 2007, he was starring in the humor black hole known as The King of Queens.

King of Queens is the definition of cookie cutter sitcom. It had the hot wife and significantly less hot husband dynamic, the stereotypical dorky friends, and the show even managed to throw the wildly eccentric goofball into the mix as well. King of Queens was a humorless smoothie of far better sitcoms, but it still managed to go on for nine seasons, with over 200 episodes.

Kevin James isn’t a terrible comedic actor. King of Queens surely wasted his talents, though, as it did everyone else who appeared in it, especially someone as brilliant as Patton Oswalt.
