I'm not talking about Miley Cyrus' so-called "provocative" performances, or Lindsay Lohan's excessive self-destructive partying(which is old hat anyway, partially because she hasn't been a teenager in a long time). I'm talking about how they're getting me into music that I normally wouldn't listen to.

Examples:
Jennette McCurdy started a side career as a Country & Western singer, and I'm not into C&W, but I like her music.

Selena Gomez performed a live cover of The Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way," that sounded pretty good. Yet I'm not into the Backstreet Boys, or any other boybands for that matter.

Olivia Olson, who we all remember from "Love, Actually," and who now does recurring voice work as Vanessa on "Phineas and Ferb" also made a decent cover of The Jonas Brothers' "Give Love a Try," on her YouTube channel. That song was written strictly for the first episode of "Jonas," like a lot of songs on the show are.

And I'm not a fan of the Jonas Brothers either.

I've seen the Selena Gomez video that they keep showing on the Disney Channel, and even at my age (42), I think it's cool. She's not a teenager anymore, but I also really like Hilary Duff. I agree, that there are some talented younger singers today. Pretty much any kind of music that has a good beat and an awesome sound gets my attention!
