Its funny when Cloris says she wasn't in the last episode and Valerie says yes she was, as Rhoda and Phyllis get jealous(again)over Mary.

That was a great episode - the only time I ever watched Oprah all the way through!! :lol:

The HARPO crew did a great job with the recreation of the WJM newsroom and Mary's apartment.

Yeah, that was great. I remember when Oprah had the Cosby kids on, and she re-created the Huxables' living room. Everyone was astonished by how detailed it was. So I kind of thought the MTM set recreations would be similar, but I still was blown away, LOL. It's great that Oprah's a fan. It makes her automatically cool in my book, hehe.

I can't think of another show, where the entire cast has remained so close, and has gotten along as well as the cast of TMTMS.

I also have on vhs when Oprah reinacted the opening credits of The Mary Tyler Moore Show,classic stuff!

I've never really watched Oprah, but I'm convinced she played a part in breaking the logjam to get the later seasons of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" released on DVD.
So a loud, "You go, girl!" to Ms. Winfrey on that score.
And she gets lots of points in my book for loving TMTMS!

It will take a week or two,for it to arrive from the US but really looking forward to the season6 DVD set.
The Family Channel(UK) stopped showing MTM after the episode when Murray is a producer for Sue-Ann,so apart from the episodes I have on the vhs "The Best of The Mary Tyler Moore Show",they will be new to me.

Thank you so much for posting this. I missed it when it originally aired and have wanted to see it ever since. Oprah obviously has a huge budget because, to be able to recreate two of the sets from TMTMS to that level of incredible detail had to be costly, and to think it was done just for this single episode of Oprah! Whether she's doing a serious topic, or a not-so-serious one like this, she pulls out all the stops. She's so obviously well read, her interviews are always meaningful. And fun shows like this are always thoroughly entertaining. I can't imagine who will be able to fill her shoes.

I agree. I heard there was a big bump in sales on Amazon.com of existing TMTMS DVDs right after that show.

This was a very good episode of Oprah. I loved how they made Mary's apartment and the office look so real. :D

One episode to go and I've watched all of season 6,Betty White is so funny as Sue-Ann,love her catty comments to Murray,like it,when, the show has it serious moments too,like Murray telling the station manager off in "Murray Takes A Stand" and Lou and Mary falling out in "A Reliable Source".
Nice to see Valerie Harper back as Rhoda along with David Groh as Joe in "Mary Richards Falls In Love",as I posted before you hear someone in the audience gasp "Rhoda" when Valerie appears.
