2010 is turning into a great year for TV on DVD. It's nice to see that season 3 of My Favorite Martian is getting a North American release and that extra's will be included.

It was an interesting season, especially seeing Pamela Britton and Alan Hewitt in an old west setting, as the characters either time travel or play their own ancestors. Things got off with a bang as the series stretched its limits a bit.

..., in producing that two-part episode {"Go West, Young Martian"}, was trying to get "extra mileage" out of the Western settings he utilized for an unsold pilot he tried to sell CBS for the 1966-'67 season ["THE IRON MEN", featuring Michael Whitney & Tom Simcox], and also "stretched" in a later third season episode, "The Time Machine Is Waking Up That Old Gang Of Mine" {involving "Frank and Jesse James"}. Chertok was the kind of producer who was always "thinking ahead" and trying to save money at the same time...

I already have the Australian version. I'll buy this upcoming one if there's some interesting bonus features. I'm glad for those who didn't want to pay the Australian price (I believe it was $70), that they can finally complete this classic series.

Was season 3 in fact released?
Apparantly not. This only thing listed for MFM Season 3 on Amazon is the Austrailian version released in 2008. I wonder what's going on with this.

There's no information on M.P.I.'s site either.

It appears that MPI won't be releasing the 3rd season in 2011. Perhaps they'll release it in 2012. I spoke to a customer service rep at the company recently and that's what I was told.

I do have the 3rd season VHS box set issued by Rhino. I can make my own DVD's using those tapes, so I'm all set I don't have to wait for retail DVD's from MPI. I'm not interested to buy the Austrailian version DVD of season 3.

Just hold on the set will be more than worth the wait, a whole lot of new extras have been unearthed for this set..some amazing footage that has been lost for forty plus years..2012 yes..worth it you bet!

I'm not interested in the extras, I just want the episodes. I got tired of waiting for MPI to put this out, so I searched ebay and found the season 3 VHS box set from Rhino. I didn't even know a VHS set existed, I imagine it's rare so I bought it as it was priced low from the seller. Picture quality is great, episodes are uncut and I transferred the episodes on to DVD's. So unless for some reason (highly unlikely) I feel I cannot resist the 3rd season DVD from MPI (whenever they finally decide to put this out- I'll believe it when I see it) I am perfectly satisfied with the season 3 VHS set from Rhino.

I had bought the Season 3 Rhino VHS set long before the DVDs ever came about. I later transferred it to DVD too. But when the Austrailian version came out I got that one. It was very good, but not noticibly better than the Rhino VHS tapes. There was one bad looking episode in both release sets, in that one episode the color was faded, film scratchy, it just looked like an old film instead of like the rest of the series episodes from that season. Apparently the master film of this is lost?? My question would be, when MPI finally gets around to releasing their Season 3 set, will this one bad looking episode be replaced with a superior version, the master copy version? Or will MPI's version of this bad episode be the same as the RHINO & Umbrella releases?

My other request remains for this series to be available as an option in a colorized version. I'd love to get Seasons 1 & 2 finally in the beautiful modern color versions that can be done with today's technology. It's vastly improved over the primitive 1980's colorization efforts.

In fact, the ideal set to buy would be a Complete box set of all 3 seasons with the first 2 in color or for those that prefer it in b/w too. A complete color box set will mean no buying the same thing over and over and over.

Yes there is one episode in the Rhino season 3 VHS set where the picture quality is a little grainy. I think it's the last episode on the first tape. It's not a problem for me, main thing is the episode is complete. I'm glad I found out about Rhino's season 3 VHS set, I now have the series complete I don't need MPI. What's strange to me though, is why Rhino just didn't go ahead and put the 3rd season on DVD instead of another studio now having to take over and finish this off.

Usually, the reason for a company like Rhino not finishing off a series, is that their rights to it expire. I wish M.P.I. would put out a nice, complete series set in addition to a 3rd season set. I like my season sets of my tv dvd series to be uniform and compact.

I've been reading articles about My Favorite Martian and about this release specifically on tvshowsondvd.com and my impression (although it's not directly stated) is that MPI only has the rights to season three. If that's in fact the case they would not be able to release a full series box set.

Ok, MPI has the rights to release all the seasons they just feel it is best to start with the third season first as it was not available from Rhino.
Then after that the other two seasons will appear..

If I could ever find out if they have a new and improved version of that one Season 3 episode that looked so bad on both the Rhino VHS & Umbrella set I would probably buy yet again!!

What I'd really like is for a Complete Series Box set to be released (the whole series is only 3 seasons and this should be a no-brainer!). This should be the first thing MPI does instead of creating another double dipping Season 3 situation. And even worse is the plan to then release (who knows how long this will take?) another once again separate release of Season 1 & Season 2. Then in 10 years, I suppose, they'll finally get around to releasing a complete series set like they should have done in the first place. I'd be happy to buy a complete series set, especially a colorized seasons 1 & 2 set to go along with color season 3. That would be a terriffic buy. And to the b/w fanatics, I can hear them already, a b/w version should be an option in the same complete series set, just as Legend films always releases a DVD in both color and b/w versions on one disc. This is my ideal release for this series. No double dipping and a nice neat package with improved versions of all episodes in one box set. Then I won't have minded buying Rhino's and Umbrellas releases.

Come on MPI, release a Complete color/b/w set series set!

Yes the one show with Yvonne Craig "Keep Me From The Church On Time" has been replaced by a new transfer..

The Digi beta master from 16mm was taken out to a open field and used for skeet shooting..it is no more..that condition just blew my mind..I wish that we had caught it for the Umbrella release..but the new MPI one has a beautiful crisp transfer from the 35mm master neg.

This is fantastic news! As I recall there was only one un-restored looking episode in Season 3 and that one must be it. Wow, it's hard to believe some idiot would use a valuable film in a cannister for a target. Just shows idiots are everywhere, even in the vaults where you'd hope they'd know better. Anyway, congratulations on finding this good looking version! Now I have a decision, do I buy Season 3 all over again for one episode or wait till the beautiful all color complete seasons set comes out? I already have the Umbrella set & the original Rhino VHS 3rd season set, this would make it a triple dip! Anyone wanna buy a 3rd season set from Mad Man Muntz aka Hazel Anyday?
