We may never see another season of The Jeffersons released after today's news. I was watching GMA & sure enough the message that was going across the bottom of the screen said: SONY TO LAY OFF 450 EMPLOYEES BECAUSE DUE TO LOW DVD SALES!
This is not good news for fans waiting for The Jeffersons & All In The Family to be completed! Also now I know why they started releasing their shows in the new snap cases where they pile all disks on one another!
Not good news today at all...

You can read the actual story below...

Sony Pictures to lay-off 450 employees: Report
2 Feb 2010, 1459 hrs IST, PTI

NEW YORK: Sony Pictures Entertainment, a division of Sony Corp, is planning to lay-off about 450 employees, or about 6.5 per cent of its current
work force, in the next few weeks, says a media report.

Attributing to a memo by Sony Pictures co-chairmen Michael Lynton and Amy Pascal, The Wall Street Journal said, the company is planning to lay-off about 450 employees in the next few weeks.

The report said that the majority of the layoffs are expected to hit the studio's home-entertainment and formation-technology departments, but nearly all divisions are expected to feel an impact to some extent, which includes motion pictures, television production and corporate.

"Most of the layoffs are expected to fall in the US and take place by the first week in March," it added.

After the current round of job cut, studio's head count would stand at about 6,300. In addition, the studio would not fill about 100 jobs that are currently open.

The company's business has been hit by digital piracy and the impact of social-media services that have sometimes
undermined studios' marketing efforts.

DVD sales in the US has seen declined 13 per cent to $8.73 billion against last year, putting a major dent in the
studios' bottom-line, the report said attributing to Adams Media Research.

Exactly!!!!!! Why don't they hire someone for this division of Sony, that knows classic television, that studies what this target audience wants. Either that, or turn over your library to Shout Factory!!!!!!

It definately does need to go to Shout Factory. But you can buy Seasons 7-11 of The Jeffersons here: http://www.ioffer.com/i/The-Jeffersons-Seasons-7-to-11-Very-RARE--128083333
This person taped them and put them on blank dvds. Might not be the best thing, but better than not having them at all when Sony releases them at molasses speed. I can't believe I was 11 years old when Season 1 was released. I'll probably be 30 or older by the time Season 11 is released if Sony keeps this crap up.

I have seasons 7-11 on VHS and TV One is airing seasons 7-11 so no one needs to buy those especially since they are syndicated versions
