Tina Fey just told me some awesome news backstage at the SAG Awards, where she picked up yet another award for her overstuffed trophy case. (Hope she has that thing earthquake-proofed!) Jon Bon Jovi will be guest starring in 30 Rock's Valentine's Day episode, which shoots in New York this week.
The episode will reunite her character, Liz Lemon, with several old lovers, and that apparently includes the Bon Jovi frontman. Also back: Dean Winters, who has recurred since the series started as Dennis Duffy, and Saturday Night Live's Jason Sudeikis as former flame Floyd. "Liz is upset to learn Floyd is not only getting married, but is competing to get a free wedding on The Today Show," says Tina, who's trying to lure some of the Today anchors on for cameos.
And Mad Men's Jon Hamm will also return in the Valentine's show as ex-beau, Dr. Drew Baird. Just before I spoke with Tina, she'd run into Jon in the Shrine Auditorium ballroom and was startled to see the handsome actor's face covered up behind a big bushy beard. "I went up to him and very carefully said, 'So, you're going to shave that beard for Saturday Night Live, right?' (Hamm hosts next week's show.) And he said, yes, Lorne Michaels asked him to shave. So he will hopefully also be clean shaven on 30 Rock."
I don't blame Tina for being concerned. If you shell out the big bucks to get Jon Hamm - you want to see the whole Hamm!
