Shout! Factory just announced they're releasing 2 shows abandoned by their studios. The Facts of Life (Sony) and Leave It To Beaver (Universal). I hope they can get the rights to more of the dozen or so titles Sony has turned their back on!

Amazing news about Facts of Life!

I'm happy for Facts fans but since I'm not a big Facts fan, I'd rather it have been Silver Spoons. Who knows, maybe it's coming and they haven't announced it yet. I also wish they could get the show Facts of Life was spun off from-Diff'rent Strokes. Hopefully they can finish off The Jeffersons & All In The Family.

Unfortunately Alice & Growing Pains are owned by Warner Brothers, so you can forget about Shout! getting them. It's really shame because I would love to see more of both shows. According to tvshowsondvd's facebook page, the Alice fan favorites sold so poorly WB has no intention of releasing season sets.

Shout! may pick up Who's The Boss though since that's Sony's.

...SONY and NBC/Universal decided they just don't have the resources and/or marketing muscle to release DVD box sets of those shows (in the cases of "THE FACTS OF LIFE" and "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER", probably not enough "profit margin" for them to do so). So they "lease" the rights to an outfit like Shout! Factory for "X" millions of dollars {"Here are the shows, good luck with releasing them, just make sure we get our cut as soon as possible"}, and just about everybody is happy when they're finally released on DVD. If "THE FACTS OF LIFE" sells enough box sets, perhaps "SILVER SPOONS" is next....

Shout took over the Simon & Simon releases from Universal.

In addition to Simon & Simon mentioned by Robby, they also picked up Adam 12 from Universal starting with season 2 & Son Of The Beach Volume 2 from Fox.

They also picked up full season sets of "Designing Women" from Sony. I believe "Blossom", "My 2 Dads", "Small Wonder" and "Room 222" are also shows that they licensed from other studios like Sony, Universal and Fox that, otherwise, would not have been made available.

I've said it many times. I think Shout! could really do an excellent job with a Second Season set of "What's Happening Now!!". For bonus features, I would add episodes of "One in a Million" (Shirley's solo series). That would be a fantastic set to own. :clap:

I wonder if with Shout releasing Sony shows if there is more of a chance of extras? If tha'ts the case let SHOUT! have all these shows listed above! Sony doesn't seem to believe in extras. I guess Facts of Life Goes to Paris might be considered one.

Too bad Warner has the rights to Murphy Brown.. a show where main actress Candice Bergen won FIVE emmys in seven years is yet to go past one season on dvd.

I had forgotten about Maude, One Day at a Time and 227. I hope Shout picks these up too! I am loving Shout Factory!:D

Thats right, Designing Women, had a greatest hits release by their studio.

The business marriage between The Arnaz family, Shout & Paul Brownstein (the distributor at the time, now he is out of the picture) was not a mutually agreed or happy one regarding that best of set.....theory was that only episodes with big name stars would sell, fans complained rightly so that the star episodes usually featured lame storylines, which proved to be mostly true....so the episodes on that set are not really as advertised as the best loved episodes.....it will now just be a unique collectors piece once we get all the season sets......it is also the one set that always just didn't fit right on my massive DVD library shelfs!

That's interesting. I was curious as to what went wrong. That set will be a collector's item at least for the special features that don't make it onto these full-season sets.

Perhaps now that Warners is releasing some TV movies/miniseries in their Manufacture-on-Demand program, we will see them do the same for series such as Alice, Murphy Brown, Mama's Family and the #1 show on my Wish List, It's a Living.

I would love to see "It's A Living" released. Ann Jillian and Gail Edwards have both expressed interest in doing commentary for such a release. I'm not sure what is involved in terms of music rights but this would be a great set. They should do Seasons 1 & 2 together, since they were short. What a set that would make. :)

That was one of the most underrated sitcoms of all time. It deserves to be seen again.

I'm hoping Shout will release the rest of the seasons of "The Nanny" and "Laverne & Shirley". I'm beyond thrilled that "Facts of Life" season 4 will be released. Hopefully, Shout will continue pushing out the seasons of FOL!

I'm so glad to see 'Facts Of Life' getting a 4th season release. I have the first 3 seasons. I would love to see Shout release the remaining seasons of Diff'rent Strokes and 227 and possibly Hart to Hart (I haven't picked up either season yet).

Shout! is on a roll lately. They just announced they're releasing the 4th season of Mad About You. This is one release thats very high on my list of wanted shows, so I'm very glad to see them stepping up here.

Shout! could finish the last two seasons of Riptide too since that is Sony.
