(The Indianapolis Colts won the AFC Title by by beating the NY Jets 30-17.)
(Ralph is shown upset at what he watched on TV.)
Ralph: "Oooh, I knew this would happen. I had a feeling. I got a headache this morning. That told me that this was going to be a bad day and it was going to be capped off by a Jets loss. They won't go to the Super Bowl and they won't get the honor of performing right near that action city, Miami Beach."
(Audience cheers.)
(Alice comes out. Audience cheers again.)
Alice: "Ralph, I heard. Those Jets folded again. Just like they did all those other times. But, cheer up Ralph. This is a major season for them."
Ralph: "Yeah, I guess you are right Alice. This is the first time they actually WENT to the AFC Title game since '99. Now, I have to hear from that Joe Fenstablau. I so wanted to hear the Jets win also to hear the news about how that Colts coach kind of cost the loss by pulling his starters on Week 16."
(Ed comes down. He blows his nose.)
Ed: "What a sad, sad day Ralph. Those Jets crashed and burned. Now, I can't wear my Jets T-shirt tomorrow when I am down in the sewer."
Ralph: "Now, let's cheer up. The Jets have at least got to the AFC title game. Now, they can build up on that season. They may have said: 'We were just happy to be here. Next year, we will have the attitude that says that we know what it is all about.'"
McGarrity (from upstairs, yells): "HEY KRAMDEN! THOSE COLTS WON! LOOKS LIKE YOUR JETS WILL GO HOME!"
(Ralph goes to the window and sticks his head out.)
Ralph (yells): "HEY MCGARRITY, WHY DON'T YOU PLUG UP THAT HOLE UNDER YOUR NOSE."
(Ralph goes back inside.)
Ralph: "I told him."
McGarrity (from upstairs, yells): "HEY KRAMDEN!"
(Ralph sticks his head out.)
Ralph (yells): "WHAT?"
(McGarrity hits Ralph with a water balloon in the shape of a football. Ed & Alice laugh.)
Ralph (to Ed, yells): "GEEEEEEEEEEEEET OUT!"
(Ed leaves.)
Ralph (yells): "DON'T STEAM ME ALICE! I WILL SAY THIS THAT THE JETS WILL GO FURTHER NEXT YEAR."
(Jackie Gleason walks on stage. Audience applauds.)
Jackie: "Folks, I can't say how glad that the Super Bowl is going to be played nearby in Dolphins Stadium."
(Audience cheers.)
Jackie: "But, the Miami Beach audiences are the GREATEST audiences in the world. GOOD NIGHT!"
(Audience cheers.)
