I realize Edgar Buchanan, Joseph Kearns and many other character actors were on Ozzie and Harriet, but do you think that Wally Cox was the most famous guest star on the show?

Wasn't John Carradine on an episode? And let's not forget the night Yul Brynner and Elvis Presley dropped in :D

There were some other famous, or later to be famous celebs on the show but I never saw an ep where they gave a special mention to the guest in the opening ep - I only saw that for Wally Cox (Fraternity Rents A Room)

Tuesday Weld and Linda Evans (then called, I think, Linda Evanstead) also appeared on the show.
