They laughed alike, walked alike, and times even talked alike, but now just like the first season, the second season of The Patty Duke Show is available on DVD! All 36 episodes of the 1964-1965 season of the series that starred Patty Duke and Patty Duke (that isn’t a typo) as the two identical teenage cousins who were from very different backgrounds, yet very much alike. Patty was the typical American teenager and Cathy was the worldly and reserved one with the British accent. The series also starred William Schallert and Jean Byron as Patty’s parents, and Paul O’Keefe as Patty’s younger brother Ross. The series was created by Sidney Sheldon and William Asher, both of whom would eventually (before this series even ended) go on to separate (but similar) series I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched, which in a sense, were almost like cousins as well. But for now, these two-of-a-kind cousins are just making it through another season in The Complete Second Season of The Patty Duke Show.

Make no mistake, I'm very happy that the second season is being released on DVD. :) But I do agree with the reviwer about the lack of extras.

At least there is one more shot with Season Three. (I hope!)

Great review! Definitely looking forward to this set.

I'm just curious. There seems to be a lack of new photos in this set. I noticed this with the coverart for "Father Knows Best: Season 4" which pretty much uses the same one as Season 1 but flips it to the right. Is it just what Shout is supplied with or are they only allowed to use certain photos. There are definitely more photos in existance for each show. Just wondering. I'm just happy to have all the episodes remastered.

Very good revierw. I was really hoping for the stars to speak more. I really like the actors and how they spoke on Season 1. I can't wait to own Season 2.

I'm glad to hear that Shout! included more interviews with the cast. Probably just unused footage left-over from the first set.

I thought it was strange that they didn't talk about the technical aspect of playing twins on the first set, but now I know why. They saved it for this set.

Now I know where the inspiration came from for Serena, Samantha'a identical cousin on Bewitched, and Jeannie's identical twin sister on I Dream of Jeannie!

I wouldn't mind hearing somebody, anybody from the cast acknowledge the girl who played the "back of Patty Duke's head." She was, after all, in more episodes than Richard or Ross!

Rita was a major part of the PDS. It's a slap in the face. I think Patty
called her double "Diane" in the season 1 interview.

I don't remember any reference to Rita in the interview.

I think it was when she was talking about the SNL skit parody of the show
on the DVD bonus interview.

With the exception of one unusually dramatic episode in the third season, this is one of those old-fashioned carefree sitcoms that helps to get your mind off your troubles. Patty Duke had her own personal issues going on while the series was being made, but when it came time for the cameras to roll she always put on a good performance. Patty was the perfect 1960's girl. The episodes are a joy to watch, great fun indeed. :)
