I had the opportunity to go back in 2005. I was in NYC for a One Life To Live Fan Club gathering, and Greyline had a tour that would take you from NYC to Coney Island. I really wanted to do it, but my weekend was full with fan club stuff Fri and Saturday and we didn't have much time to do anything else. I hope to go back to NYC one day, just for fun and with no time limits. My ideal time to go would be in 2011 (next year!) to see the 9/11 memorial. Hopefully they'll have it all finished by then. But Coney Island looks like a blast!

To those that have been there, would you care to tell us about it?

Since I live in NYC, yes. I'd say once every 2 yrs. I'm not a big beach person. Although the boardwalk and the many concession shops are nice. Also the neighborhood is very Russian - so if you like this cuisine there are some nice restaurants and food shops....

At first when I saw this thread I was thinking the Coney Island amusement park east of Cincinnati! That park is online at www.coneyislandpark.com (http://www.coneyislandpark.com/). I went there once when I was like 12 (which would be about the summer of 1984).

Then I realized they were probably talking about the one outside of New York City where Nathan's Famous hot dogs originated (and they have the world popular hot dog eating contest)! I have only been by it on the Shore Parkway. This was September 2007. My brother and I were visiting some of the counties and their respective county seats in New York, and we got all five NYC boroughs plus Long Island. (That enabled both of us to have all 62 counties in New York state "clinched". It's a mob-rule.com (http://www.mob-rule.com) thing.)
