Folks are saying that the Philadelphia Eagles will be making an off-season decision to trade one of two quarterbacks, long-time starter Donovan McNabb(notes) or Kevin Kolb(notes). McNabb only has one year left on his contract and the thought is that if the Birds think they can go far in the playoffs next season, they'll stick with McNabb. Otherwise, Kolb will be their man for next season and the team will work for the future.
Now here's word from ProFootballTalk that young Eagles players seem to prefer Kolb over McNabb. The young players apparently looked for advice on the sidelines from 25-year-old Kolb rather than McNabb during regular-season games.
This is being seen as some indication of the team's future and the fact that the players think Kolb is the "better leader." But it could just be that there is a generation gap between the young players and the ancient 33-year-old McNabb.
The trading period opens March 5 and the Eagles will apparently be ready to hear what teams would give for a year of McNabb.
