La Toya Jackson is eager to take over from Simon Cowell when he leaves the judging panel on American Idol - insisting she wants her fans to see the "real me".

The music mogul announced last week he will be quitting the singing contest when his current contract ends in May.

And the late King of Pop's sister is already eyeing a position on the show, after chatting to the program's producer Nigel Lythgoe at a recent party in Los Angeles.

She tells TMZ.com, "I would love to be a judge on American Idol. I would love to have a chance for the public get to know the real me. I would be thrilled."

Agreed, I personally don't care for the four judges format but if it's going to continue that way then it should be two men and two women. This also may be a longshot but I think it's more than coincidence that David Hasslehoff decided to quit AGT at about the same time that Simon announced he was leaving AI so my prediction is that we'll see the return of the Hoff next season as Cowell's replacement.
