View Full Version : End of a Seinfeld Era....

I really hated to have to go to such drastic measures, but sadly there was no other choice.

Back in 2005 I joined this Seinfeld board (way before I found this one), and for a while it was pretty active. We talked about everything. Well, unfortunately as the years passed, the spamming got worse and worse and when someone posted something horrible directed at me, I notified the board owner. He said that the board was pretty much going downhill and he made a bunch of members moderators to help with deleting as many inappropriate posts as possible. I was thrilled to actually be the moderator of something and although the board wasn't that active after that, I made regular visits to clean up. Then I noticed that I was having to do it more and more until finally I gave up for a while.

Then it got worse because in the past month or so, I've been getting PM's from that site. So I click on the link only to find out that it's some jackass poster (usually someone with one or two posts), trying to spam. Of course I'm not stupid enough to click on the link provided. Just the thought that these weren't valid messages was enough for me.

Last night I got another one and decided that I'd had enough. I have a friend on the board that is usually the one who answers my threads, so I sent her an email letting her know that I was taking drastic measures and deleting my account. Fortunately I had the right email address and we've been conversing that way. I've been trying to persuade her to come over here and hopefully we can get some great Seinfeld conversations going. In fact, she brought up a topic that I'm going to post in a minute to get started.

Anyway, I hope she joins us, but in a way I feel a tiny sense of loss. I really liked that board when it was thriving. Too bad the board owner didn't care enough about it to just get rid of it all together.

Just wanted to share!

I'm sorry you had to go through such a negative experience Andrea. But I'm glad your part of our community here at S.O. and I hope your friend joins us too. The more the merrier!

That's one reason why I like this board so much, It's owned by someone who actually cares enough about it to make sure things run smoothly.

Yeah it's always hard when a community breaks up. You have invested so much time and energy into it, it's like a real emotional loss.

As Marv said, though, hopefully your friend will enjoy her/his time here. And for my part, you're one of the nicest members at SO and it's always fun to interact with you! Glad to have you here, regardless of the success or failure of other boards. :)

Yeah, I agree. These boards have been deserted recently and not just Seinfeld but every show. I remember when there used to be like 4-5 Seinfeld things a day just a year or so ago and every time I would log in there would be a lot of new messages posted since my last time on.

Now, however, I can read the blog and then continue with my daily websites very quickly. I guess we should all start some discussions...

This is a very good Seinfeld posting place. It used to be a lot more active but with the show being off the air for 11 years now that is not surprising.
