I had to give this its own thread! Friday night my husband and I went to IHOP for dinner and he ordered the all-you-can-eat pancakes. He kept ordering refills and when he left the table the waitress comes up to me and says that if he orders three more stacks (I think there were two on each), he'll have the store record. He comes back to the table and I told him what she said. So he did, and it was so hilarious. The manager and staff just couldn't believe that he had broken the pancake record (of 18 pancakes). They paid for his dinner and our waitress took his picture and said she was going to put it on the bulletin board!!
When they asked how he did it, I told them that we watch a lot of "Man vs. Food". I half expected them to do a press conference afterward!

We went back in there tonight and he ordered the same thing. He was under his record but the same manager was in there. When she saw us, she announced to everyone on our side of the restaurant that the "champion" was here. It was too funny! And then the waitress told us that her boyfriend came in last night and tried to beat the record but didn't even come close!

That's a fun story... your husband should enter an eating contest and win a prize! :)

I can put away some pancakes if I have a bottle of sugar-free syrup but absolutely no butter.

OMG, he loves watching that on TV. We were in Vegas a few years ago and they had that contest showing on one of the big screens at Caesar's Palace. I could not figure out what was so interesting in the sports bar, until I saw what he was watching!

He had the pancakes with just syrup, but tonight he told me that he wants to go back again on Friday... he might just break his record! :) I know I couldn't do it. But then again, I'm not really a pancake person.

Thanks for all the congrats! I'll pass them along!:)

Yes, and it makes me sick to watch it. Ugh... I'd rather be able to taste my food!

By the way, my husband eating the pancakes... he wasn't wolfing them down or anything. I think he was just really hungry. He told me on the way to IHOP that he hadn't eaten any lunch, so I guess that was a contributing factor. It'll be funny to see if he breaks his record when we go again on Friday!

Oh and just a note. On Fat Tuesday, which is Feb 16th, IHOP usually serves free short stacks of pancakes. Not all you can eat, though! They'd go out of business! Last year when we went, these teenagers (or early 20's) were in the booth behind us. They were obviously going from IHOP to IHOP to get the free pancakes. They would order the short stack, and ice water, leave a measly tip, and then go to the next IHOP. Really tacky, if you ask me. I think it's pretty bold of IHOP to offer the free short stack without having you buy something else. I don't think it's required. But talk about taking advantage! And the really stupid thing is that the money they spend in gas driving all around (because the ones around here are several miles apart, if not further) is such a waste of money. Cheapskates!

I love that bunny picture too, Janice, but why would someone put a pancake on his head? Poor thing! I'm sure that can't be very comfortable!
