Doug and Carrie live in a two-story brick house. Look how many photos are used to depict their street, but there aren't any houses like theirs! There are even more views, but this is all that would fit in one post.
Could this be considered a running gag? They must be doing it on purpose.

I'm in Queens, and the area Doug and Carrie are supposed to live in is Rego Park. I live about 5-6 blocks from where they are supposed to live, and let me tell you, the houses that do exist in that area are rediculously small.
Another interesting fact is how wrong they get the directions to get from point A to point B around the area, and I think thats done purposely by the producers. The mall they are seen visiting is indeed our local mall, Queens Center, and the streets Doug mainly drives on are along Woodhaven Blvd and Queens Blvd.
Spence and Danny's apartment is only 2 blocks up from the mall, and is indeed a REAL building (unlike the house shown for Doug and Carrie). In fact, my friend (who is a huge fan) has family in that building, and I assure you, the apartments look nothing like what you see on the show.
I'd be happy to answer any questions about the area if anyone is curious.

Thanks, Ryan. Is Corona or Glendale nearby? I think that Archie Bunker was supposed to live kind of near Rego Park.
Doug and Carrie's house is definitely brick, but the houses in the openings look more like where the Bunkers lived. I guess Queens is pretty big though!
I've only been to NY once; to Manhattan and Long Island. Another area of interest for me is Brooklyn Heights where the Patty Duke show took place.
Are Queens and Brooklyn actually considered to be on Long Island?

Queens is quite big. Archie Bunker lived just a few miles away in Glenndale. Maybe a 20 minute drive from where Doug and Carrie live.
Another interesting fact is that in Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray and his family live in Lynnbrook, Long Island. Ray Romano actually resided and grew up in the Forest Hills/Rego Park area where I am. In fact, the HSBC bank he met his wife at is only 5-6 blocks away from me.
My uncle and Ray attended Queens College together, and Ray used to drive my uncle home from college on many occasions. The two havent seen eachother though since way before Ray found success. My uncle always tells me that Ray told him stories about how crazy his parents were! It's amazing to hear such a thing now.
And yes, Queens is technically on Long Island, but is a borough of New York City. I don't believe Brooklyn is on Long Island.

This is actually talked about during a running commentary by producer/creator Michael Whitehorn & Kevin James. They said they realize that the buildings and streets don't match up, nor does the front of the house, and that they don't need more mail pointing this out. Now, being a huge KOQ fan myself, I think its funny how other fans get bent out of shape when every single detail isn't spot on. It reminds me of a bit that Dave Chappelle does in his stand up, talking about how producers & writers specifically leave out vital details, & make all phone #'s 555-bla bla bla, because over zealous fans try to call the numbers asking to talk to Indiana Jones or Mickey Mouse. Hilarious. I say, just sit back and let Doug & the gang make ur sides split with top notch comedy, & not get picky about the fact that the inside of Cooper's really doesn't look like that...Sheesh...

Can't remember if this was ever posted on here or not.
The KoQ house is actually in Jersey (http://www.iamnotastalker.com/2009/10/30/the-king-of-queens-house/)
