At this morning’s TCA session, ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson said he was renewing ABC’s freshman comedies Modern Family, The Middle and Cougar Town so all three will get a second season.
The Middle goes from “in some danger of cancellation by May” in our Renew/Cancel Index to…renewed

It's nice to see that ABC has been successful in reviving the sitcom. Hopefully they'll add even more. They still need one more comedy for their Wednesday lineup.

This is great news. I feel Modern Family is a kind of sitcom that is delightfully offbeat, similar to Arrested Development. I'm glad ABC seems to be behind this.

Aaaah, I'm so excited. I just love the narrative method of this show. And I've been a huge fan of Jesse Tyler Ferguson for the longest time. He's so subtly quirky. I've been in such a JTF withdrawal period in my life that I've even gone to see him in The Winter's Tale in Shakespeare in the Park. Totally worth it to see him in the flesh. I just can't wait for him to be easily accessible on my TV though.
