Mark McGwire has finally admitted that he used steroids during his Major League baseball career.

Does this mean he'll wind up with an asterisk (*) like Barry Bonds?

I think there is a very good chance that Mr. McGuire will indeed end up with an asterisk besside his name. I noticed in his "confession" he went to great pains to explain that he only used steroids to speed his recovery from injuries not to increase his strength. I'm a little skeptical about his explanation.

I always thought the steroid poster boy was a toss-up between Jose Canseco and Roger Clemens!! :eek: And, Brian, I think the only one shocked by this announcement was Mark McGwire. :lol:

The nineties was definitely the era of home run hitters. All the highest paid players were home run hitters. And most them are either confirmed steroid users ( i.e. McGuire, Canseco) or under suspicion( i.e. Sosa). Is it any wonder that pitchers like Roger Clemens starting using steroids too?

Plus us Clevelanders will never forget 1994's "Batgate", involving the unlamented Albert Belle. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was on steroids in his career, either. :rolleyes:

Albert Belle did play in the "steroid era" and was a power hitter so it's definitely possible.

Not to mention Manny Ramirez. I mean, he's a pure hitter, talented, etc. But once he left Cleveland, he definitely began to become ultra-bulky. I don't know if he ever was under suspicion for steroids, but I would not be surprised if he indulged. Then again, I never forgave him for leaving the Indians, so I may be biased. :crazy: :lol:

Well I know I've had suspicions about "Man Ram". I don't know if anyone in baseball suspects him.
