The Cowboys won their division- nobody had them doing so this year.

The funny thing, it's more like Dallas beat themselves that game. I think if they stay focused they can beat the Eagles.

I agree. This is the only game that matters. The Cowboys can't let up. Those Giant games are in my head and the players better not forget it either. The Eagles though have always been overrated. They flop in the playoffs year after year and they don't get criticized by the national media for it. If The Cowboys would have lost that many championship games they would be all over them. Andy Reid and McFlabb continue to get a free pass.

How hard will it be for the Cowboys to beat Philadelphia three times in one season?

It's a troubling question for a psyche scarred by playoff failure.

"Yeah, it's hard to play a team three times," Phillips said. "But I'd rather be on our side of it. I'd rather be the team that won twice and is playing at home than the team that lost twice and is playing on the road."


Sounds like something he said before the playoff game with the New York Giants two years ago.

The Cowboys have already beaten the Eagles twice this season. Phillips calls Sunday's 24-0 win at Cowboys Stadium "one of the best victories I've been around in a long time."

But in the NFL, there's a belief that if two teams are evenly matched – the Cowboys and Eagles both finished the regular season 11-5 – one will rarely sweep the other. Familiarity doesn't just breed contempt, it breeds a 2-1 split.

This would be a good time to point out that people once thought the world was flat and some misguided souls insist Larry the Cable Guy is funny.

Teams have met three times in a season on 19 occasions entering Saturday's wild-card game. The team that won the first two games went on to sweep the series 12 times.

Hard? That's a .632 percentage.

The Eagles had one touchdown in their two games against the Cowboys. They averaged 262 yards in offense and converted seven of 24 third-down opportunities.

Those who suffer flashbacks to two years ago will find no comfort in those numbers. The Cowboys swept the Giants in the regular season, beating them by 10 and 11 points, only to lose to New York at Texas Stadium in the playoffs.

There's a significant difference to consider. Nine weeks passed between the second and third meeting between the Cowboys and Giants. Both teams underwent changes.

How much can really change in the six days between Cowboys-Eagles Redux?

"Well, we'll see," Phillips said. "But it's not a negative for us.

"I'm not them and I can't speak for them. But they didn't have a lot of success, so you're going to have to change some things, I would think."

He was the head coach in Denver during the '93 season when the Los Angeles Raiders beat the Broncos twice during the regular season. I hate what the Cowboys have become. In the old days they wouldn't let this bother them. They'd just go out and win. No way would they let any team get under their skin like this. This team has done it to themselves by choking the last few years. It's time for them to bury this team once and for all and go out and play like the Cowboys of old. Winning playoff games is all that matters. The regular season is nice and winning the NFC East is nice but if they don't win a playoff game, this will never end. They are wasting some of their prime years with this nonsense. They've excercised some demons and now it's time to get rid of all of them. :cool:
