It appears that Patty is OK now, but it turns out that the lithium she has been taking for almost 30 years has caused severe kidney damage.

Interesting that the article starts out just barely touching upon Miss Duke's kidney damage but then goes on about mental health issues in general without a backwards glance. Nothing whatsoever about how other folks taking lithium (or other psychological medications) may be at risk for serious physical problems!:mad:
Regardless, I hope they're able to find a safer substitute (and the pharmacists/physicians are REALLY careful about side effects before doling it out!

Amen!! I'm on anti-anxiety meds myself, so that's definitely something to be concerned about. I hope and pray that Patty will be able to pull through!!
