It was three o'clock in the morning and Max was pacing back and forth in front of the van that Chico had called home for the last two years.
It was true he had a wise acre attitude at times, but he'd proved to be a hard worker and a good friend, even though Ed would deny it vehemently if questioned about it. The truth be told everyone in the Barrio knew that Ed cared about Chico not only as an employee and a friend, they were as close as any Father and son, and closer than some.
It was this role, of worried father, that Ed was playing now, though he wasn't in a playing or humorus mood as he started back toward the stairway leading to his upstairs apartment.
"Stay out all night i don't care, but don't think you're going to sleep all day!" Ed fumed as he began the climb upstairs.
Just then Ed recognized the familair voice..... "Hey Ed man, what are you still doing up?"
"What am i still doing up he asks, he stays out all night and asks me what i'm doing up, do you have any idea what time it is?!
"Sure it's....whoa man it's..."
"It's just about breakfast time that's what time it is, and we have to work tomorrow.
"No sweat man i can handle it, Ed man you won't belive it but i think i met the girl of my dreams."
"Oh really, what's her name tonight?"
"Aw man be serious, her name is Shelby and she is one fine Mama."
"Well don't thinkyou are going to sleep all day after partying all night. You know you're going to be the death of me with all these late nights!"
"See man you do care about me."
"Shut up and go to bed!" Ed scolded before storming upstairs to get a little bit of sleep before the alarm went off.....

Have a good night, Chico called out to Ed grinning as he turned to go into the van and go to bed. He climbed into his bed in the van, his shirtless torso laying in the darkness inside. He tossed and he turned but Chico could not sleep. All he could think of was the beautiful girl he had just met. Oh, if he could just see her again and get to know her better. He tried to sleep but instead lay awake thinking of her...

He soon took his guitar in his hands and started strumming
"Shelby............ I........ I..... I lov...........)"
Hey what am I thinking? Is it really true? Have I found the girl of my dreams? He jumped out of the van and strolled over to the coffee part of the garage to make a cup of coffee when in strolled Mando.............

Chico grasped the coffee pot in a daze as he began to pour.

"Hey Chico" Mando walks over as he notices Chico filling his cup of coffee.

"Chico, what are you up too, you seem a million miles away"

Realizing his coffee is overrflowing out of his cup. Chico woke up from his daydream wiping the counte. "I met a girl Mando. She is really outa-sight"

"Oh yeah, Who is it this time Brother? Word on the street is that you are known as love em and leave em Rodriguez"

Chico smiles. "no Mando this is it" Mando shrugs his shoulders, "That's great Chico, but what does old folks thiink of this?"

Ed starts to come down the stairs.

Chico! What's going on here? Didn't I tell you that it's time to sleep? Make me a cup of scotch uh..... coffee.

Sure Ed........ Aren't you going to say hello to Mando?

Who? Where?

Ed............. Here's your cup of coffee

Stop looking like that... all dreamy eyed... Make me some eggs

Ed please................. I'm in love... her name is Shelby. Can't you understand that?

Mando pour some water over Chico's head. Wake him up. He's having hallucinations.

Ed: and who's calling who Old Folks you Mexican burrito?

Chico stared dreamily into space not even noticing the other two. Mando shrugged. Looks like he's got it bad, man, Mando stated.

Snap out of it and make me some eggs right now you hot tamale, Ed demanded. Or you'll be clucking like a chicken when I get through with you! Mando grinned trying to hide a devilish grin. Wipe that smile off of your face right now you taco you!, Ed growled at Mando.

Then all of a sudden in comes Shelby......

Mando - Who's that? :grineyes:

Chico - Shelby what are you doing here?

Shelby - Well hiya Chico babe......... I missed you. I need you.

Ed - :eek: Well I guess I won't be getting any eggs this morning.

Shelby- i was wondering when we could go out again, i REALLY miss you Chico, you rev my engine!

Chico laughed nervously as he noticed Ed walking down the stairs looking at him. "No breakfast for me?" Shelby looked at Chico as she batted her eyes. Chico clumsily got up turned on the burner to warm up the pan. "I'll fix you an omelet ala Chico Rodeiguez" Chico looked over to Ed, "I"ll fix you one too Ed". In a frantic Ed hurried down the stairs. "No, No Chico. The last time you cooked me breakfast like that, I was driving away all the customers." Ed held his forehead in misery," They pulled in the garage getting a whiff of the air and peeled out-a-here!" Chico looked at Ed, "ha ha ha, Ed"
