As always on NYE, my mind wonders back that to fateful NYE 1985.
:( RIP Rick

I thought about it too. Unlike many past New Year's Eves, I didn't pop in a DVD (or before that, VHS tape) of The Adventures or of clips of Rick singing on the show, but of course I do that throughout the year every year anyway so it's not like a I need a special occasion to do it. But I thought of Rick, of his longtime road manager/sound engineer Clark Russell, the members of his great last band (Bobby Neal, Patrick Woodward, Andy Chapin, and Ricky Intveld), and of Helen Blair, whom Rick may well have married had they not been killed. It was a horrible tragedy, but Rick's legacy certainly lives on through his music and acting work (especially, of course, The Adventures).

OH Nuts!

Me too. The world lost a great talent and a really nice guy that night. He was a generous spirit and he left much for us here.

Next year will be the 25th anniversary. I hope the Nelsons have something special in store for us like they did with the 20th. If nothing else, simply putting Rick Nelson: A Brother Remembers on dvd would be nice. Or Easy to be Free (both David Nelson productions). And maybe Bear Family will have a 70's box by then?

I have seen on a couple of Facebook discussions, there is another box set that's coming out this year. It's going to have songs from "The Memphis Sessions" and other un-released things from the 80's.

When Facebook gets back to normal, I'll research it and let you know.

Not to mention that his legacy still lives on through his children, who still adore him. I loved Matthew and Gunnar's cover of "Travelin' Man"!

Where on Facebook have you seen this? I've gone to a couple Facebook sites, but there's nothing there, beyond a few small pics of members. Maybe you have to become a member to "get the goods"? Do any of the Nelsons tweet or twit?

 Do any of the Nelsons tweet? That just sounds funny! Yes, Matt and Gunnar have a twitter page. You can get to it from their website www.thenelsonbrothers.com. They don't "tweet" often and when they do, it's to post an article re: their dad or one of their upcoming shows or radio interviews.

I saw this info on the new box set on the main wall of the Rick Nelson facebook page where I'm a fan. It's a 7-CD box set, supposedly to be called "The Last Time Around". One of the fans posted that info.

You have no Ricky Nelson CDs? omg: Why not?
Matt and Gunnar sing "Travelin Man" on their album Like Father, Like Sons.
