Tonight on Facebook, I saw in my live feed (from someone who used to post here...he was probably banned, hmph) about how he hates America. This man LIVES in America and takes advantage of all the free AMERICAN clinics, the AMERICAN corporations, & the AMERICAN freedoms. BUT HE SAYS HE HATES AMERICA? WTF? This guy just DOESN'T REALIZE how lucky he is!

My father is in the Air Force and he fights EVERYDAY for our freedom and it really aggravates me when people say **** like that. If you can't appreciate America, lets just give your freedom to someone who will REALLY appreciate it? How about you trade places with an Iranian man? Hmm? I bet he'd be singing a different tune then.

Or how about this douche does the job my dad does EVERYDAY. Maybe he'll have some change of heart after working on B52's all day.

Needless to say, I deleted him from my friends list right after I saw that.

I really don't mean to sound like, preachy or like a douche, but that stuff just makes me really angry. And I felt like this was a little too big of an issue for the complaint dept. It's kind of just me ranting, but I appreciate you reading, haha.

I have a pretty good idea who you mean, but I deleted him off my friends list months ago (mainly because of his potty mouth). But you are so right. If you look at my signature, the young man listed was killed in action in Afghanistan - but he chose to go and fight for his country even though he had a feeling he wouldn't be coming back home alive. So to people like the one you mentioned on Facebook - go to another country and leave the rest of us alone. So there!!!!!

I know what you mean, Courtnee. I think we're the greatest Nation in the land. Let him live in a country where you you don't have the freedom to sit behind a computer and say you hate living there, as they cart him off to prison.

My heartfelt thanks to your father for his service.

yeah i totally agree with you. i feel like a lot of people are really ignorant as to how lucky they really are, and they go on and on about how America sucks just to sound cool without even really having a reason why or realizing what it's like in some of the other countries out there...

I wouldn't be able to hold my tongue and I'd probably have told that person to shut the eff up and if he doesn't like America then why is he living here?

People like that need to shut the eff up and go away and let someone live here who actually will appreciate the freedom's they get

he claims his hatred for america is because "people are second class citizens" and he asked me if my dad was fighting for his right to marry (he's gay)
i wanted to say "well, he's fighting for you to run your fat mouth. sounds like his jobs done." i'm gonna message him.

I wouldn't even give him the satisfaction. Let him stew in his own juice (the poster, not your dad).

People like him are so ungrateful and don't deserve everything they have. The person sounds spoiled and bitter. Perhaps he should find another country to live in, what a punk.

Wow, bitter much? (the guy, not you)

Yes, yes - that sounds like a good idea. Send him on down to Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan. See how he likes it there after a day! Bitch will be crying forever for his taken-for-granted freedom.

America may have a lot of flaws -- so does every other free country -- but dammit I LIKE living here. It's such a nice, veritiable melting pot of culture and variety. You're not gonna get that in, say, Saudi Arabia.

I always think of America as kind of the "parent" of the world, and a lot of the rest of the world as teenagers. I.E. no matter what we do; we're wrong. If we are too lenient, if we allow other countries to go unaided in their fights against hunger or despots or poor economies, we're heartless monsters who don't care about the plight of the suffering. If we take a more active path and DO something about any of that, we're called "empirical" and we're in it for the oil, or we're out to rule the world.

It's just like a parent who is forever criticized for being too active or passive. With great power comes great responsibility, and with great responsibility comes a LOT of criticism, no matter what you do.

I think it's fine to criticize America if in doing so your goal is to try to make it better, but yeah, I agree, if the only thing you are doing is bitching because you inherently hate the country and NEVER balance it out by talking about the good we do (which is massive) then why the hell are you even here? No one is forcing you to stay.

And I have a huge issue with people who bitch about the military. Go ahead and gripe about the political decisions made, and the orders these wonderful folks are given; but they are all just doing their job, and their job is to ensure that each and every one of us can hold onto our freedom, at the risk and often cost of those folks' very lives. As many of you have said, try living in an America that DIDN'T have its military; you'd be speaking Japanese, living ina gulag, and/or giving a "Seig Heil!" while you're at it!
