[I]What we were taught in school does'nt comply to today standarts, like spelling for one,I graduated in 1982 and was bad in school I had to take Special ED in some classes like Math which I only studied basic skill math, and english which I am pretty good at but, what we should have been taught was life lessons how to maintane a check book which I have been learning for more then 4 yrs I still have little trouble balncing but,I am geting better. but I wish they would have taught me more, they did not have don't leave a child behind program, now days kids have it hard they have to know all kinds of math which really has nothing to do in the real world like, getting on a budget,or how to live on your own getting a house or apartment or etc....... Back in 1982 school was not nice to me. But,now I AM learning and still learning life lessons at 46. You are never to old learn .t

I agree. I think things like budgeting should be taught in school. At least the basics for making a budget. I really wish they would have taught me that in high school. Would have saved a lot of stress, haha.

I think maybe it depends on where you go to school. I was taught how to balance a checkbook and how to budget my money in high school. It was in a class called Lifestyle Skills and Management and it was required for graduation. That was in 1994, so I can't say for sure if it is still offered or required or not, but I was grateful to have that class before I went off to college and had to face the real world on my own. I guess I was lucky.
