Elizabeth Hasselbeck had an awkward moment on The View yesterday when she asked if Stanley Tucci's wife had seen any of his recent film, The Lovely Bones, in which Tucci plays an ultra-creepy child rapist and murderer. The problem? Tucci's wife died from cancer back in the spring of this year.
In Hasselbeck's defense, she was following up on Whoopi Goldberg's question asking Tucci if he had read the book, The Lovely Bones, and he had replied that his wife had read it, and told him, "You can't do [this film]." So a simple -- yet extremely embarrassing -- slip.
Tucci responded to Hasselbeck's question with a hurried, "No, no," and quickly looked away hoping to move on.
Fortunately, Tucci seemed to take it in stride. Hasselbeck posted this on her Twitter feed about the incident:
it was an honest mistake with stanley tucci today & i called him to apologize. he forgave me (such grace)- if only i could forgive myself...
