Facebook just told me to create new password for my account because there's been some suspicious activity on another website (not Facebook) and they're worried about security. Is anyone else getting the same message or is it just me? I hope this isn't some phisher or whatever. I don't want to change my password unless I know this is legit.

I haven't had anything like that happen so far. Sounds kind of fishy to me. Maybe you should email the admin and let them know about this and then wait for their response.

If it came into your mail account, it's strictly SPAM. I get them about once a week - DO NOT click on the link. It could also be a possible virus.

Actually, I've had to be totally off Facebook for several weeks now - there's a REALLY BAD trojan virus going around on it and because my software wasn't up to date, I got it BAD. It's infected everything in my pc and even going directly to the registery hasn't helped.

Right now I'm on here on a borrowed laptop - can't get to my email account at all (just in case anyone was wondering if I haven't answered them).

I emailed the admins at Facebook about the virus and hope they get it out of there soon.

Ugh, that sucks so bad, Cathy! I'm sorry you had to go through so much trouble. I actually didn't get anything in my email at all--the message popped up when I tried to get on Facebook. They asked me to change my password for both my Facebook and the two email accounts connected with my Facebook (my personal and school email accounts). I did so. I'm still a little leery, though. I've never gotten a message like that before, and from what I can gather, no one else on Facebook has had a problem. The message looked legit, though--it contained one of those "Captcha" (sp?) things where you type in the words you see to distinguish whether it's a spammer or not (I hope I wasn't being naive). I'm still scared this is gonna screw me over in some way.

I haven't had that problem. However, I've been having trouble getting past the homepage since last Friday.

It's been a little slow especially on Farmville.
