In what marks the third high-profile film that Disney has halted since Rich Ross took the studio reins, "Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride" has been scrapped.

The Touchstone Pictures sequel to the 2007 hit was revving up to begin production by next summer, with Walt Becker back as director, and John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy reprising their roles as biker pals in mid-life crisis.

Wow! Since that was such a big hit, I'm surprised they've scrapped a sequel.

I believe that it's awfully wrong-headed to be wanting to lump Walt Disney Pictures releases to those under the Touchstone brand. Those are for all intensive purproses, too different entities. WDP is more of the traditional, general audiences/family friendly brand. Touchstone I thought, was initially started so that Disney could produce movies that otherwise, wouldn't be appropriate or sutiable (i.e. PG-13 and up) for the WDP brand.

Me too. It made lots of dough.

Maybe the movie got scrapped because Old Dogs (also directed by Walt Becker) was a critical and box office bomb.

With all that star power, I still think a sequel would've been a big draw. I think they're cutting off their nose to spite their face, but what do I know?
