This is a moving on thread but its not about me leaving SO. This is my favorite forum and I enjoy posting here, and have no intentions of leaving here.

That said today I had to leave another forum because things got out of hand between me and someone.

Its one of the reasons I hate politics so much. Last summer I made it clear that I supported John McCain, and put a McCain sticker on my car. I knew that that would raise flags considering all of my friends are left wing liberals who practically worship Barak Obama. Thats fine, they are intitled to their views. One friend (we'll call him R) was outraged, and hassled me for my supporting McCain. He was a friend, so I let it go even though I was outraged because he was supposed to be my friend.

Cut to a few days ago. On this forum someone made a comment about Obama, I commented back, and R brought up the whole McCain thing and made some smirky comments, and I let it be known I didnt appreciate it, and also let it be known I would not put up with his BS and he had best leave me alone(I told him that in much harsher tones).

Well today he told me he was only messing around and apologized. I appreciated him coming from. However who knows when things will blow up again, so I decided to not post on that forum anymore. Its unfortunate because there were people on there I really like and admire, but at the same time the fact that I am a quiet and shy person that dosent speak much makes so many people uncomfortable, makes it more than obvious that things wont work out on that board, but such is life.

Normally I dont vent about personal matters in my life, but thank you all for letting me blow off some steam here. :)

Sorry you had such a rough time with someone on the other board. Maybe later on after tempers cool you can go back, if you feel comfortable doing it.

OH Nuts!

Discussing politics can get heated - its not really my thing either - maybe bec. I'm in a place where its not hard to see an opposing view without hating it or the person having it. (BTW, even though this isn't the politics bd I was never surprised when McCain leapfrogged ahead of his competition in the primaries and was happy he did so)

I'm sorry that happened Mickey... Yes, politics does get heated and I have stayed away from it sometimes.

Next time the friend does this, you should just dump him as a friend... but then... well... No, maybe just ignore him for a few days... never mind..

Me and R will probably see each other often because we have a lot of the same friends (let me rephrase, we know a lot of the same people). We'll just have to stay away from each other, but I will be nice to him and be respectful. He pulls any sh*t however, I am gonna kick his ass!!!!

Too bad because we were once friends, and before the election last year we got along just well. I just dont understand why he couldnt accept the fact that I wasnt going to vote for Mr. Obama and moved on. One of the many reasons why I hate politics, because they cause division.

By the way thats why on Facebook I was asking where I stand with people I know.
