If you had someone from German Descent...you may have seen or heard this book. It was written by Henrich Hoffmann who was displeased of a book he got his son. And the stories seem to be cruel, here's the titles (in English, of course)....

"The Story of Cruel Fredrick"-A boy who abuses dogs. (PETA would be proud of what happens to the boy in the end).

"The Dreadful Story of Pauline and the Matches"-A girl who plays with matches and creamates herself.

"Story of the Inky Boys"-Three boys make fun of the Black boy and St. Nick makes those kids Black. (Maybe he should do that to Michael Richards).

"The Story of the Wild Huntsman"-The Hunter Sleeps and gets killed by a Rabbit! (Is this how the Warner Brothers got the idea of Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd)?

"The Story of Little Suck-a-Thumb"-A boy is told not to suck his thumb, but still does and now has no thumbs!

"The Story of Augustus Who did not have any Soup"-A Boy who refuses to eat his soup and eventually dies from starvation!

"The Story of Fidgety Phillip"-A boy who can't stand still and throws his family's dinner all over himself!

"The Story of Johnny Look-in-the-air"-A boy who can't see where he's going and loses his books in the river.

"The Story of Flying Robert"-A boy who walks out in a storm and gets blown away!

The name comes from the poem of a boy who can't seem to know about hygiene. And the Forward tells us about what happens to boys and girls who can't obey.

And I just hope no Movie Studio would make an animated feature of this...that would be cruel!
