I'm looking for somebody to make me a tam hat like the one that Mary Tyler Moore (Mary Richards, The Mary Tyler Moore Show) wore, and tossed up into the air in the opening credits of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

In the meantime, would somebody please provide me with frame captures of the hat from the opening credits of the show? This is something that I've always wanted.

I'd buy one, but they don't sell them. Nobody that I know of makes them. They were never marketed/sold. They were never commercially released.

But, all joking/kidding aside, I'd like to come as close to the original hat as possible. If somebody could replicate/duplicate it for me, that would be perfect.

Have you tried eBay? When the statue of Mary was dedicated in Minneapolis, I believe they gave out hats that day. Maybe someone is selling theirs. Just a suggestion. :)

I think Mary lost the hat the night of the 1991 reunion. At the beginning she pulled it out, saying I still have the hat (and threw it) and the "M". Then the hat disappeared!

OMG, that's terrible! Who would clip dear Mary's hat?!?!?!?!
And if that's true, I'm still surprised we haven't seen it on ebay.
If anybody ever sees it for sale, we as a group MUST try to regain it to get it back to MTM!!!!

IT's right before the toss. The hat is seen in various shots/scenes in the shows opening credits, from different side/angles.

Did you ever figure out if there were hats distributed at the MTM statue dedication? I wonder if those hats were copies of the original.
