I just watched this tragic case this morning. While all cases on UM are tragic to one degree or another, this story, about the brutal and totally unnecessary killing of two friendly, trusting and innocent sea lions really disturbs me.

I recall there was an update some years later indicating that two men pleaded no contest to the death of "Bobo" the second sea lion that was killed by a "seal bomb", an otherwise benign explosive device. However, the names of the killers were not reveled. Could anyone venture a guess as to why? Was there some legal reason?

Most likely because it was a misdemeanor offense. I think it was one year they got if I believe. I could be wrong but isn't there a rule where the identity of misdemeanor criminal cannot be publicly released? That a misdemeanor criminal has rights to privacy?
