Hi everyone!
I thought to ask, is it just me or are there other UM fans who really enjoy visiting the Doe Network and Charley Project website. These are 2 sites that I enjoy visiting, especially since Spike took UM off the air. I guess I am a big fan not only of UM but also unsolved mysteries in general. Some very interesting cases on there!!!
Some of my favorite cases on Doe Network and/or Charley Project are: The Boy inthe Box, the Sodder children, Little Miss panasofkee, Dorothy Arnold (who disappeared 99 years ago today), Marlene Santana, Carlina White, Tammy Lepert, Jock and Jane Doe, Callie Doe, Baby Hope
I'd be very interested to hear from other Doe Network/Charley Project fans. What are your favorite cases?

Oh hi!!!! I too love mysteries. I frequent both those sites. My family thinks I'm a weirdo for sure. The boy in a box is a case has fascinated me for years. The Ashley Freeman and laura bible case is one I follow too. Could u post some links to some of your fav cases??

Yay, it's great to meet other fans out there! :wave: Yes, I will definitely try and post some links to my favorite cases. Regarding the Charley Project, I am not sure if it is one person, and I am not sure what the history of the site is. But whoever does it is truly amazing!

I also check both websites. I was surfing the Doe Network several months ago when I found an update on a young teenager named Stephanie Condon. She was abducted from Tri City Oregon in 1999. I lived in Springfield at the time and the story was pretty major. Since I no longer live in Oregon, I wasn't aware that her remains had been found until I saw the update.

Both websites are marvelous. Bless the people who take the time to remember the missing and the unidentified, and especially those who are still searching for answers in their cases.

What's the deal with the Doe Network now? I'm getting constant pop-ups and the pictures don't load anymore. How long has it been like this?

Yeah, isn't that amazing? Charley often has much more info than Doenetwork, although she only does missing persons.
I don't know what is up with popups...no fun.

Anyone is welcome to the information at the various Porchlight boards as well. We welcome new members but it isn't necessary to see our various MP and UID forums. yeah Im a regular viewer of the Charley Project, great website. The Doe network is new to me though, I should check it out!

I like both of them. I go to Charley Project once in a while and have spent many an hour reading profiles on Doe Network.

About Benjaman Kyle- There is an entire forum section about him on websleuths, including a question and answer thread where people ask him questions and bounce theories back and forth. He actually posts there and answers the questions.

I am checking out those links. Yeah I belong to Webslueths too. They did a DNA check on Benjamin Kyle and traced it to some branch of family, but it is slow going.

Thanks for the Benjaman Kyle info, Apostapler and Burb Queen. i should definitely check out websleuths. I read on the Doe Network where Benjaman Kyle's DNA was traced back to a family bearing the Powell surname, who I think originated from Oklahoma. Though Benjaman's last name isn't necessarily Powell, it means that he has Powells from this family in his genealogy. I think it also said that a linguist detected that he has an Indiana or Oklahoma accent.
I also have been meaning to check out Porchlight...I have never heard of that site before.

I read about Dennis Martin's case in Dwight McCarter's book Lost! (about disappearances/accidents in the Great Smoky Mountains). A few years after he vanished, someone came forward and said he'd come across the scattered bones of a small child near where Martin went missing, but didn't report it earlier because he was illegally collecting ginseng at the time.

I've just had my wisdom teeth out and have been passing the time by watching UM and looking at the chronological index of the Charley Project. It's very intriguing and spooky to think that most of these cases have never been resolved.

I'm kind of nervous to check out the Doe Network. I'm guessing it's considerably more grisly; are there gruesome photos?

I agree that the people who take the time to update these sites are wonderful. I feel like I'm a criminologist or something lying here looking at Charley Project for so long.

The Doe Network does not post actual postmortem photos, but instead presents computer and clay model reconstructions or sketches of what the victim looked like (or what they believed the victim looked like if all that was left were skeletal remains). That said, even though you don't actually see any pictures of dead people, the reconstructions still look pretty creepy, so sensitive people are advised to approach the site with caution before spending too much browsing around there.

My personal pick for most chilling from that time period would be the murder of Susan Reinert in 1979 by her boyfriend and the disappearance of her children, Michael and Karen. When the suspect died, they uncovered a photograph in his possessions featuring which might be the unmarked gravesite where the children's remains are buried *shudder*.

I remember that one! Truly terrifying. :eek: I also remember one where one parent was murdered, the mother's boyfriend shot on the side of the road and their 15-year-old daughter tried to drive away from the killer; he ran her off the road and grabbed her from the car and she has never been found. You just KNOW whatever happened was not good. Her statistics indicate she was very tiny and probably could not have resisted much, especially since he had a gun :( Over 50 years and not solved.

The girl was born EXACTLY thirty years before me :eek: Have you ever read/ seen Picnic at Hanging Rock? This sounds just like that where a school group when up into a similar area and three people were never seen again. A fourth girl was found two days later alive but with no recollection of what happened. :eek: Just reminds me of that. If I ever go to an area like that I will never let myself be separated from the group!!!!
