Valerie Harper will return to Broadway this spring in the new comedy Looped. Penned by Matthew Lombardo, the Rob Ruggiero-directed play will open at the Lyceum Theatre on March 14. Looped follows actress Tallulah Bankhead (Harper) as she is called into a sound studio in 1965 to re-record a line of dialogue for what would ultimately be her last film.

I was in NYC this past weekend, and the theater was right across the street from my hotel (Millennium on B'way). Every time I exited on to 45th St, there was Valerie Harper looking down at me! I was hoping I would see her on the street if there were rehearsals, or meet her in one of the nearby restaurnats for dinner. Unfortunately - no.

If anyone plans on visiting NY to see the play, the Millennium is a very nice/quiet hotel and very affordable for the area.

I bet Valerie will do a wonderful job portraying Tallulah Bankhead. I just wish I had a way to get to NYC to see it.

A friend of mine emailed me this morning to let me know he may be working on "Looped" as a swing (he does wigs)! If he does, and the job becomes somewhat permanent, I can get house seats through him (and maybe meet Harper!). I've done that before in plays he has worked on. The only thing - next time I will be in NY won't be 'till August. Let's hope the run lasts that long.
