Wow, that's impressive! I guess that means that it beat the highest rated episode ever, which was the finale of Season 6. That was a two part episode as well. Mr. Monk on the Run. WONDERFUL episode! In it, Adrian Monk is accused of murder, is arrested and breaks out of jail and is shot by Stottlemeyer. I watched part of it the other day and I had forgotten how good it is.

Wait... I'm confused now... so it's the highest rated series or the finale was the highest rated show? Either way it's awesome!

I watched it (and loved it) but I don't have a Nielson Ratings Box. So my watching didn't count. Just think of what the numbers would be of people who watched if they could somehow count everyone - not just Nielson box owners.

I'm proud of this series for being so popular all these years. It survived a couple major blows. First being the departure of Bitty Schram, who played Monk's nurse/assistant, Sharona Fleming. She left mid-season three and was replaced by Traylor Howard as Natalie Teeger. The second was the death of Stanley Kamel, who played Monk's long-suffering shrink, Dr. Kroger. He died after finishing season six. Season seven began with the introduction of Hector Elizondo as Dr. Bell.

That is a great comment. I think the show has been so successful because they didn't do any major changes like so many shows do. I'm still ticked off (and probably forever will be) that they barely acknowledged Dr. Kroger's death and I feel that they could have explored that a lot more (thus a reason that I am currently writing a fan fic about that very thing. Kind of my own "closure"), but all in all a great show and I will miss it.
