Comic Paul Reubens is resurrecting his freaky man-child character Pee-wee Herman on Jimmy Kimmel Live December 8, when the two funnymen play with holiday toys. Then, all the kooky favorites (Miss Yvonne, Jambi, Mailman Mike, Chairry) from his ’80s CBS kiddie show, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, will reunite at L.A.’s Club Nokia from January 12 to February 7.
Paul hopes the stage show will spark interest in a new live-action TV series, an animated series and feature film. New characters have been added to the cast, including Shamwow (a towel and sponge in one!) and Sergio, a hunky Latino handyman who’s updating the Playhouse’s wiring while preparing for a So You Think You Can Dance audition.
What about Laurence Fishburne, who played Cowboy Curtis? While the CSI star is interested in getting back into his stirrups for a Pee-wee movie, he suggested his son Langston take over his role on stage. But 57-year-old Paul deemed the 22-year-old “too young to stand next to me. I’m still trying to pull off Pee-wee!”
